Got the album? If not, later this week we are gonna give you fifteen reasons to get it. In the meantime, a new Type O website has been born. Thanks to the grand efforts of Steve at Team Ronin and Simon at Pixel Ghetto, we proudly ask you to stop by the new www.typeonegative.net.
Starting late last month, 36 Crazyfists hit Florida to start the recording of their second release. Time to play catch up: 10 questions with vocalist Brock Lindow go as follows: 1 – where are you? Brock – OK, right on giving me something to do while out here..I like it…we are in Davie, Florida. 2 – when did the recording start? Brock – The recording started two weeks ago. Drums and bass have all been layed down and the guitars started on Friday (June 13). 3 – what’s the living situation? Brock – I’m shacked up with (Steve) Holt (guitarist) and the living quarters are extremely nice, although ESPN went out four days ago. Somebody at the front desk better fix that shit…and they’re lucky the hockey season is over, or people could come up missing. 4 – what’s the breakfast situation? Brock – As far as breakfast, well they have quite the spread but my ass barely makes it up in time to get any, so it’s on a day to night basis on whether I make it or not…got it?@!! 5 – a typical day from wake to sleep nowadays… Brock – I wake up and go to the studio and listen to the rock all day just waiting for my turn to talk into the mesh. 6 – beverage most consumed on a daily basis? Brock – Orange Gatorade – man it’s friggin’ hot down here and us Alaskans are indeed melting…gotta keep the hydration up… 7 – do you like dogs? Brock – And yes, I love dogs! Don’t have one yet. 8 – # of songs you plan on laying down? Brock – We are laying down 12 songs for the record…or was it 11?? 9 – biggest difference from the recording of this album versus the last album? Brock – This record I’m not sure of the difference, it’s just another year in the life of our band, no real formula, just us being us…it’s definitely an ass kicker… 10 – one line you cannot stop saying… Brock – The one line I cannot quit saying is,”I CANT BELIEVE THE FLYERS ARE NOT HOSTIN’ THE CUP AGAIN!” I know they got booted in the 2nd round, I just like to continue to bitch.
Friday 13th June… did you do anything special? Well, the Murderdolls’ played a show in a bullring in San Sebastiíçn, Spain in front of 12,000 Iron Maiden fans! Here’s what Wednesday 13 had to say about it… “Playing with Iron Maiden is fucking hard. It takes the audience about three songs before they know who you are, and they kind of look at you like they’ve just found a turd in the punch bowl!” As for a pre-gig ritual… “I’ve gotta go and do our chant… Everyday before we go on stage we lock ourselves in our dressing room and sing this one particular Kiss song – ‘All American Man’. We sing and shout the first half and then play air guitar and air drumming for the rest of it!” Did you know? That night the moon was full… and it was the biggest full moon seen in Spain in 109 years! Check out our exclusive photos of the event in the Murderdolls Photo Gallery HERE.

We’re thrilled to share the happy news that Nickelback bassist Mike and his wife Angela have had a baby girl. Avalon Marie Chloe Kroeger was born yesterday and mother and daughter are doing fine. Many congratulations from all of us here at Roadrunner UK to Mike, Angela, Dawson, and all in the Kroeger family.
We’re pleased to announce that Chimaira will be joining the second half of the US Ozzfest tour, straight from their tour with In Flames. The first show you can catch them at will be July 31 in Indianapolis, ending August 28 in West Palm. Chimaira will play the second stage, rotating with all bands except for Voivod and Cradle of Filth. Did you know? Labelmates Killswitch Engage are also playing the US Ozzfest tour.
Type O Negative will be shooting a new video this weekend. The video will be for the track “I Don’t Wanna Be Me” from their upcoming June 16th release Life Is Killing Me. The shoot will take place in Brooklyn (but, of course), and it kinda goes like this (very loose interpretation): a local New York City comic has been cast to play a fat guy. We will follow this guy to his apartment and watch as he acts out other personalities…all along the lines of the song’s title, “I Don’t Wanna Be Me.” Did You Know? The treatment for this video comes from Type O guitarist Kenny Hickey. In fact, ALL members of the band submitted their own treatments for the video. True. Video should be in house come June 26th. Did you know? The band are playing a special Friday the 13th free show this weekend at NYC’s legendary CBGB’s.
For those of you who are conoisseurs of all things HEAVY and with a memory that lasts beyond the past 2 months, then ‘The Vault’ is certainly for you. We’ve been digging around our archives to find the bands and albums that we’re constantly getting asked about but no one can find anymore. The grand plan is to make every piece of Roadrunner music, ever, available on-line. But, until then, we’ve put together a series called “TWO FROM THE VAULT” – basically 2 CD’s for less than the price of 1. So, who are we talking about here? Well, here’s 9 that are due to surface on Aug 18th: *Annihilator ‘Alice In Hell’ + ‘Never Neverland’ *Exhorder ‘Slaughter In The Vatican’ + ‘The Law’ *Obituary ‘Slowly We Rot’ + ‘Cause Of Death’ *Gang Green ‘You Got It’ + ‘Older Budweiser’ *Mercyful Fate ‘In The Beginning’ + ‘Melissa’ *King Diamond ‘Abigail’ + ‘Fatal Portrait’ *Pestilence ‘Consuming Impulse’ + ‘Testimony Of The Ancients’ *Suffocation ‘Effigy Of the Forgotten’ + ‘Pierced From Within’ *Front Line Assembly ‘Caustic Grip’ + ‘Gashed Senses & Crossfire’ For those that are scratching their heads now, we should point out that Mercyful Fate should be well known to fans of Metallica (they covered a medley of their songs on ‘Garage Inc’), while Exhorder had a great influence on the musical direction of a certain Mr Anselmo. As for Gang Green – if there’s a better album title than ‘Older Budweiser’, then I haven’t heard it. In the meantime, we’ll keep digging.
