Spread The Gospel

“(We’re) not going in there and trying to follow the guidelines of what radio stations want to hear,” Jaworski said. “That’s just gonna cut your own throat. You just gotta go for it. Make it blow people’s speakers up.” With Radioactivist out in only a few weeks, Red Tape’s name is popping up all over the press, with many news outlets are doing all they can to hop aboard before the band invade every household in America. The above quote can be found in an interview Jeff Jaworski had with The Great Falls Tribune. You can read that interview HERE. Digital Noise also has an interview with Jaworski, which you can visit HERE.

A Letter From Burton

Posted on February 12, 2008

Did you know we have a road crew, an e-team, and an A&R team in the mighty RR Street Team? We’ve decided to share with you a letter that Burton C. Bell recently wrote to our teamers, to give them a little update on what’s going on in the Fear Factory camp. The FF crew is heading out to Australia to prepare for some shows with KORN and to shoot a video for ‘Cyberwaste’. We are going to get some cheap but well made, live video footage type of imagery. We have never shot a video like this before, so we are looking forward to this one. The point of it is to place it on the enhanced album cd that will be released. An album with the video footage! Another really cool thing is that we are, for the very first time, playing Seoul, South Korea! I am really excited to see this place. I have heard great things about it and also some wild stories from friends who have played there! On our way to Australia, we are laying over in Honolulu for 3 hours! Why could it not be 3 days? Byron Stroud is doing really awesome at rehearsals. X-tian and Raymond are feeling comfortable with him and that is a great sign! He already passed the drinking and eating test, now he is showing us what a bad-ass bass player he is! Archetype is mastered! X-tian and Raymond arrived into NYC, to be part of the mastering session. We went to HOWIE WEINBERG at Masterdisk and he turned ARCHETYPE into a monstersound! I love how it sounds and the music is loud as fuck!!! We are all psyched for everyone to hear this album, and we are ready to play live and rock hard for all our friends! Thank you for all of your support. We really are grateful and we will always do our best! See you against the barricade! Burton C. Bell Raymond Herrera Christian Olde Wolbers Want to learn more about our team, or join us? This Time’s For Real

Posted on February 12, 2008

Earlier this month – Jan 13, Ill Nino shot their latest video. The video is for “This Time’s For Real,” and was shot in Spanish Harlem in NYC. An account of the day, as written by our very own US Marketing Matt – a man who witnessed the shoot – is as follows: C-O-L-D!!! Ok, so that’s not the word that immediately comes to mind when you think of Ill Nino – but trust me, if you were hanging out by the Hudson River in sub-zero temperatures in an abandoned warehouse, you’d agree. Ill Nino shot their video for “This Time’s For Real” with Zack Merck (Nevermore, Converge) at the Brooklyn Shipyards this past Tuesday. What Zack was able to do to bring a dilapidated old building to life was nothing short of miraculous – converting a crumbling edifice into both a sweaty boxing ring and a candle-filled spiritual oasis. Ill Nino heated the joint up with a killer performance of “TTFR”. The band were true troopers, ignoring the cold and running through the song about 15 times in total to nail it down. The shots looked amazing, so good that you couldn’t even tell that it was colder than a witches tit in that damn room. Kudos to all involved for stepping it up a notch, ignoring the frigid temps and putting together a video that is sure to burn it’s way on to MTV, FUSE and any other damn place that plays videos. Did I mention it was cold? (keep you eye out for this new video come mid-February…check out Ill Nino’s PHOTO GALLERY section of the site for shots from the shoot.)

Acey’s Guitar Clinic #4

Posted on February 12, 2008

Murderdoll Acey Slade was taking time out before Christmas to answer your guitar related questions! You’ve read #1-3, and now it is time for the final installment, #4. 12. What effects are used for the intro for White Wedding, can I play it with my trusty guitar digitech metal master and a big amp, no wah no phaser no added stuff? – Matt Sure, but it won’t sound exactly the same. When I did my clinics I did my best to do it clean so that everyone could ‘hear’ the notes more. 13. How did you learn the guitar, and do you think it’s hard to teach yourself, because I am doing that. – Crazydawg Crazydawg, well….I think having a teacher will help you get where you want to go more quickly. Do you have to…nope. I had a teacher who wanted to teach me all kinds of dumb shit, so I learned the basics from him untill I got an ear and could figure stuff out on my own. That’s what I did. But the good thing about having a teacher is that it’s someone to bust your balls and keep you on track. 14. My name is Steve, I’m 16, and from Western Australia and I am one of your biggest fans and can’t wait to get my claws on your re-released album. I am a guitarist deeply inspired by Murderdolls and I would be fucking grateful if I could get some genuine advice from you. My metal band is going all right, we have written several songs with a few awesome riffs. The thing we need help with is solos – how do you write a good solo to go with your song? I loved the solos in songs such as “Love At First Fright” and “Dressed To Depress” and if I could get some tips to help me write a solo half as good as those I’ll be happy. Hope to hear from ya. From a huge aussie doll fan, Steve Steve! We can’t wait to come back to Oz! Well for solo’s never forget that simplicity is not something to over look. I’d rather see a guy that can strangle one fuckin’ note than a guy that can play a billion notes and I can’t remember one of them. Remember – and you hit the nail on the head of the babie…. YOUR RIFFS – that is the first and most important part. THEN make your kick ass solo. 15. In the White Wedding chorus what’s the extra tab in the chorus and when it’s the drum and bass after the solo? – Steph It’s just bending some notes on the high E string with a micro synth. Joey and I kinda bend at different times so it’s kind of spooky. It’s basically that ‘key board’ type sound. It’s faint but it’s there….good eye!
