MELISSA AUF DER MAUR ANNOUNCES SCREENING OF SHORT FILM

Posted on March 16, 2010

MELISSA AUF DER MAUR has announced a special screening of her Out Of Our Minds film at London’s ICA on April 21st. The evening will be hosted by Auf der Maur and will include a Q&A to follow the screening.

The ICA screening on April 21st is in addition to Auf der Maur’s previously announced live headline show, at Cargo on April 17th, and ahead of the release of Out Of Our Minds (OOOM), her second solo album and a richly elaborate multimedia project, set for UK release on May 3rd.

The OOOM film, A 28-minute rush of stunning images, expressive music and narrative experimentation, shot in HD and fuelled by solar power, debuted at Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews and has since been installed in the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. An imaginative mini-epic, the film was produced by Auf der Maur herself, and directed by Tony Stone, OOOM is set across three time periods with one connection: Blood. A journey through parallel worlds that brings together a Viking heart, a car crash and a bleeding forest for an unforgettable climax.

Further info about the film, as well as a trailer, can be viewed at OOOMFILM.COM.

Tickets for the ICA screening and Q&A session with Melissa Auf der Maur, priced at

DOMMIN ON TOUR WTH H.I.M- WE GET THE LOWDOWN!

Posted on March 16, 2010

DOMMIN are back in the UK supporting goth superstars H.I.M, but before they landed on these fair shores, they played a handful of shows in mainland Europe. Below, vocalist Kris fills us in on the tour thus far.

Our first stop on the tour brought us to Hamburg, Germany. First days of tours are always a little hectic. Usually because the crew for the main band is working out all the details of that first show. We pulled up noticed the large line of fans already waiting hours before the doors are set to be open, and in the cold and snow. Yep, after being in Italy, I’m a little bummed to be in snowy weather again but the anticipation of waiting fans, the size of the venues and knowing that most all the shows will be sold out have us all excited for this new tour. We all get ready and if catering on this first days is setting any type of precedent, then dinner is something I’ll be looking forward to every night. We hung out in catering most of the night. I made the long distance call to home and so I find a hallway to find a quiet place. Next thing I know, Ville comes around the corner and I introduce myself and shake his hand. We meet the other guys in HIM as they walk through catering to the stage.

Four shows into the tour, and that’s pretty much all the contact we’ve had. Its a bit like ships passing in the night. They don’t hang out much. The guys appear and disappear. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to chitchat a bit and at the very least express my gratitude for having us on their tour. All the shows have been pretty great. We’ve played Hamburg, Amsterdam, Dortmund and Luxembourg so far. Dortmund was a very reserved crowd. At first I thought they might not like us until I heard that the same luke-warm response we received was also the response HIM received. In complete contrast, Amsterdam was crazy! That show put all of us on cloud 9. Those people are out to have a good time and they did and so did we. It really made me want to return to Amsterdam as soon as possible. The fans were great and so were the giant pancakes.

We closed out the string of shows in mainland Europe with a show in Luxembourg. That show rivaled Hamburg in crowd response. But we had a great time meeting new faces by our merch booth. The people are very kind.

Hopefully we’ll be making it back this way very soon. For now we make the trek back to the UK. We have a very busy schedule aside from shows. But we are going to get to close out the string of UK dates with one headlining show at a small intimate place in London called Borderline. It will be a great send off back to the US.

Dommin are touring in support of their debut album Love Is Gone which is in stores now. Pick it up online HERE. They play a headline show in London this Sunday at London’s Borderline. Check the Tours Page.

TAKING DAWN BLOG FOR DECIBEL ABOUT GOD OF WAR

Posted on March 16, 2010

The GOD OF WAR EP hosts some big names from the Roadrunner Roster, but nesstling amongst the heavy hitters like KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and DREAM THEATER you will see one of the newcomers to Roadrunner- TAKING DAWN.

Vocalist Chris Babbitt has written for the Decibel blog about being asked to provide a track for the God Of War III sounds track / the EP:

“We were almost immediately amped to record for Blood & Metal. I say almost because it took a minute for us to confirm that it wasn’t someone’s idea of a cruel joke. The chance to flex our chops next to some of metal’s legends, as well as some of our favorite contemporary acts, seemed just too good to be true. But lo and behold, someone at Roadrunner fucked up and accidentally sent US the contract instead of some titan like Machine Head or Dragonforce!” Babbitt continues “…we decided to pull something special out of our sexy little black bag. I’m talking metal as fucking fuck, like the equivalent of Rob Halford’s 16 inch, stainless steel, chrome studded, leather-bound, self-lubing diesel powered dildo, special —of which I have two on lay-away, the man has good taste. It had to be as sexy as Hetfield’s ‘88 ‘stache and Adrian Smith’s ‘86 mullet combined! All it took was a quick little studio session in LA with Logan, nicest fucking guy on the planet, Mader…”

God Of War: Blood & Metal is out now as a digital EP and available on the game of the same name. Taking Dawn’s debut release Time To Burn is available digitally now. It will be available on CD from April 26th. You can pre-order the CD / pick up the album digitally HERE.

KNOW. YOUR. SHIT! WILLIE ADLER GETS GRILLED ON LAMB OF GOD HISTORY

Posted on March 13, 2010

If you’re a RR UK regular, you’ll know that last week we kicked off a new feature- ‘Know. Your. Shit!’ where we test bands on how much they know about their own careers.

In last weeks session we quizzed Mike Kroeger from NICKELBACK and, owing mainly to his being a little too modest, he scored but 2/10. Next up to face the challenge is LAMB OF GOD’S Willie Adler.

Click on the player to see if he faired any better and to see him throw down the gauntlet to a label-mate!

Lamb of God’s current album Wrath is in stores now. Get it online HERE.
