Fucking Killer

Posted on February 12, 2008

SLIPKNOT have left their hometown of Des Moines, Iowa for Los Angeles, California to begin work on their long-awaited third full-length album, tentatively due in early 2004 through Roadrunner Records. Rick Rubin (SYSTEM OF A DOWN, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, SLAYER) is expected to produce the effort, the material for which is being described by frontman Corey Taylor as “fucking killer.” “Well, once again I have to leave my family and hometown to head west, to the Mecca of Malfeasance, L.A., to start work on the third installment of the SLIPKNOT saga,” Taylor writes in a posting on the unofficial Stone Sour message board stonesourboard.com. “I’m leaving with reservations and a mix of anticipation and cynicism. STONE SOUR has a become a blasting target for the press, who labels us a ‘post-grunge basement band’ and ‘unimaginative dog-shite’ (shite thrown in for our British fans). “That’s funnyí¢ä‰åŒ_ Coulda sworn people liked us… at least that’s what the album sales said. “Nevertheless, the same will happen with SLIPKNOT, who the press have been braying about since STONE SOUR’s last tour, but I don’t really care anymore. People are going to bag on whatever I do regardless, because critics try to destroy the one thing they themselves cannot do. If you like my music, thank you í¢ä‰åäó if you don’t, thanks for sending a little more negativity into the world. “I’m really looking forward to the new album with SLIPKNOT. A lot seems to have changed with the band and the material is fucking killer. We are working on another STONE SOUR album as well, and it is amazing as well. So I want to thank everyone who has stuck by both projects for all these years. Sometimes we really don’t know what’s going on, sometimes we don’t get along, and sometimes we stick our foot in our mouth (or at least I do), but through it all, you have shown us that, with both bands, it is you who allow us to do this, and we thank you. “Gotta go í¢ä‰åäó the IBM is wailing. “Oh, and BLABBERMOUTH, if I spelled anything wrong on this, please correct it when you eventually reprint it. “Thank you. “Corey Taylor” thanks to Blabbermouth

Ready To Mix

Posted on February 12, 2008

Last week, 36 Crazyfists wrapped up the recording of their second studio CD. Next step, sending the master tapes to Derbyshire where Andy Sneap will be mixing the as-of-now untitled release. HOWEVER, there was a little snag in the plan…apparently Andy never received the masters yesterday as scheduled. Where the hell were they? When in doubt, look in the shed. When the to-remain-unnamed courier delivered the package to Sneap’s pad, nobody was home so they left it unsigned for…in the shed. “My old man just found the box by accident,” tells Sneap of the discovery. Anyway, all is good. A member or two of 36 Crazyfists will be joining Sneap shortly for the mixing sessions. more to come…

Coal Chamber’s Headstones

Posted on February 12, 2008

Be sure to head over to the MUSIC page and up pick a new MP3 just posted… Headstones And The Walking Dead, by Coal Chamber – taken from the forthcoming album ‘Giving The Devil His Due’ out August 25th. Monte Conner, CC’s A&R, shares the following: “Originally titled ‘Dramatic’, this song was tracked in the autumn of 1996 during the sessions for the self-titled Coal Chamber debut album, but for some reason, vocals were never completed and the song has sat incomplete in some storage facility until recently when it was unearthed and earmarked for the ‘Giving The Devil His Due’ album. Dez went back this past May and added brand new vocals – vocals that are for the most part, more in the style he used on the Dark Days album.”

Someday, Somehow

Posted on February 12, 2008

Have you heard the new Nickelback song ‘Someday’ on the radio yet? If you’re an AOL subscriber, look out for a load of Nickelback appearing across your desktop – starting today. And now for your kareoke pleasure, we present the ‘Someday’ lyrics… Nickelback – ‘Someday’ How the hell did we wind up like this? Why weren’t we able To see the signs that we missed And try and turn the tables I wish you’d unclench your fists And unpack your suitcase Lately there’s been too much of this But don’t think it’s too late Nothing’s wrong, just as long As you know that someday I will… Someday, somehow I’m gonna make it alright, but not right now I know you’re wondering when You’re the only one who knows that Someday, somehow I’m gonna make it alright, but not right now I know you’re wondering when I hope that since we’re here anyway We could end up saying Things we’ve always needed to say So we could end up staying Now the story’s played out like this Just like a paperback novel Let’s rewrite an ending that fits Instead of a Hollywood horror Nothing’s wrong, just as long As you know that someday I will… Someday, somehow I’m gonna make it alright, but not right now I know you’re wondering when You’re the only one who knows that Someday, somehow I’m gonna make it alright, but not right now I know you’re wondering when You’re the only one who knows that How the hell did we wind up like this? Why weren’t we able To see the signs that we missed And try and turn the tables Now the story’s played out like this Just like a paperback novel Let’s rewrite an ending that fits Instead of a Hollywood horror Nothing’s wrong, just as long As you know that someday I will퀌æ Someday, somehow I’m gonna make it alright, but not right now I know you’re wondering when You’re the only one who knows that Someday, somehow I’m gonna make it alright, but not right now I know you’re wondering when You’re the only one who knows that I know you’re wondering when You’re the only one who knows that I know you’re wondering when

Update From The Studio

Posted on February 12, 2008

Words direct form Robert Flynn on the new Machine Head album… WOO-HOO!!!!!!!! Motherfuck, motherfuck, Noich, Noich, Noich…..Smoking weed, doing coke, smoking blunts, who smokes the blunts, we smokes the blunts, who drinks the Brown Eyes, we drinks the Brown Eyes…. And we are done. With the recording that is. Yesterday was our last official day in the studio. And everything went fucking excellent. We go to mix for 12 days on Aug. 2nd over in England with Colin. Master Aug 15th with George Marino at Sterling Sound. Doing photos this Friday with Alex Sulca. Mr. Duce -aka- the Lord Of The Low End Frequency, thru down some Bad Ass Bass tracks, and vocals over the last few days, you heard right!! We The Duce-ter back on the trade off vocals, and harmonies, and you’re all gonna be jaw dropping-ly shocked at how good his voice sounds. Demmel came in and thru down solo’s the other day as well, and without a doubt, it is his best solo work the guy has done since I’ve known him, just fucking slaying the Metal dragon. I’ve always felt the best solo we ever had on an album was Logan’s solo in “Spine”. Just a really cool, unique solo. Phil has thrown down a solo in Egypt II, now called “In The Presence Of My Enemies” that is now my favorite solo EVER. KK Downing eat your heart out. I’m gonna be throwing some lyrics up in a minute, and will be writing a diary that goes into more detail about everything soon. Apologies for the laggin on updates……….but you know….I been havin’ to Pra-doos results. -Da Pra-doos-err – Robert Flynn Did You Know? Right now, Robert’s over here in the UK mixing the record up at a studio in Lincolnshire… yes, same place as Chimaira & Killswitch Engage were holed up.

Under A Killing Moon

Posted on February 12, 2008

Sometimes inspiration comes from the most obvious of places… Last week, Thrice’s new album – titled The Artist In The Ambulance – hit the streets. Get a chance to check it out yet? There are some pretty cool liner notes in the package. Around here, one can’t help but notice the notes the band wrote on the writing of the track “Under A Killing Moon.” Drummer Riley tells, “This is what happens when Teppei (guitar) remembers that he likes metal.” Teppei writes, “I remember I wrote both those riffs (in the song) on days I drove to practice listening to Killswitch Engage…I guess it shows.” Hear new KsE material at www.roadrun.com/freddyvsjason
