As you should all know – it’s been quite a long time coming – the new Spineshank album, Self-Destructive Pattern, is in stores now. What else? The band is currently on a co-headline US tour with Ill Nino. What else? Kirsty Lingman from EXTREME RADIO has done an interview with Jonny & Mike about the new album. Check it out. What else? Look who hangs out with Spineshank: CLICK HERE And last, but not least…a message from Spineshank drummer Tommy Decker: We have also started our co-headlining tour with Ill Nino. So far its been going great. Skrape and 40 Below Summer are also on the bill…so its a great lineup. We just played our 1st show in New York City in a couple years and i have to say that the crowd was amazing. It was one of our best NYC crowds ever! Philly also kicked ass, I’ve never seen that city get so violent at a show. Columbus was awesome as always, and still remains 1 of my favorite cities in the world to play. Today will be our 1st time in Milwaukee since the Height Of Callousness tour, so I’m really looking forward to seeing all our old friends. Other than playing shows we’ve been busy setting up the road rage tour – Spineshank, Ill Nino, and Chimaira in Europe starting in early Oct. That is going to be a brutal ass tour. That’s all for now. Tommy

Getting the lowdown on Nickelback’s drummer Ryan ‘Nik’ Vikedal… once again, questions from our teamers. 1. If you weren’t in Nickelback, what could you see yourself doing? “I’d still be doing something involving music.” 2. What do you do in your spare time (if you have any!)? “When I have any I like playing video games or else I practise different styles of music and make little recordings in my basement!” 3. Because you’ve received some negative press over here in the past, are you worried the new album will be judged before it’s heard? “No, if the music is good it will usually break through all the negative things that have nothing to do with the music.” 4. Why don’t you play ‘Detangler’ in sets? “It’s an older song and hasn’t yet been voted into the set amongst the band members.” 5. When will you be touring the UK and what can we expect from your stage show this time? “We hope to be in the UK around December and we’ll have a more developed pyro show than last year.” (Ed’s note: More flames. Rock.) 6. Are there any other good Canadian bands you can recommend me? “Ian Thorney, Sam Roberts.” 7. This may seem a strange thing to ask, but your heavier tracks remind me of Metallica. Are they an influence? “A very big influence with the older Metallica – Master, Kill Em All etc.” Thanks Nik… words from Ryan Peake and Chad Kroeger coming next week. ‘Someday’ is out Monday for í£1.99 only. Don’t forget to come back here to enter to win a trple platinum disc only next week on this site!
Those Killswitch Engage boys never stop working! Even though his band are busy, putting the finishing touches to their untitled new studio album, guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz has started a new side project! Adam (who also works as a producer) has teamed up with Unearth’s Ken Susi (guitar and vocals), The Acacia Strain’s Karrie Whitfield (bass) and Pictures Of Gabriel’s Paul DeBenedictis (drums) for Burn Your Wishes. The band have just issued a split EP with The Awards on Milk And Cookies Records. Log on to www.milkandcookiesrecords.com for more details. Adam’s side project comes in addition to KSE frontman Howard Jones’ also fronting the mighty Blood Has Been Shed. Killswitch Engage’s as yet untitled third album will be released in early 2003. www.metalhammer.co.uk
ahhhh Brujeria. Back in the year 2000, we had posted the following news of this band on the site: Due to ongoing investigations by the DEA, no tour dates for Brujeria will be announced on this site. However, fans in the Southwest US regularly patronizing metal venues could be pleasantly surprised in upcoming weeks. Those that have witnessed Brujeria’s fabled live show report a ritual sacrifice as a set opener, the band appearing in ski masks and gunbelts, unrestrained drug use on stage, and three bassists producing such a thunderous bottom that most sound systems have not survived the evening. Witnesses report a convoy of Jeep Explorers heading south, leaving from the club directly after the performance. Hey, well guess what? Looks like we now have an upcoming Brujeria show in the US again…one that is publicly announced. Word has it the band will be playing at Allen’s Theatre in Southgate, California on September 27 (3809 Tweedy Blvd). El Brujo, El Asesino (rumored Dino Cazares), Hongo, and Hong Jr. will be playing the show. In other Brujeria news, we will be releasing a Best Of Brujeria CD later this month. Track listing as follows: Best Of Brujeria Liner notes by Hank Williams III (Superjoint Ritual) 1. Pura De Venta 2. Leyes Narcos 3. Matando Gueros 4. Castigo Del Brujo 5. Sacrificio 6. Padre Nuestro 7. Raza Odida (Pito Wilson) 8. La Ley De Plomo 9. Colas De Rata 10. Hechando Chingasos (Grenudo Locos II) 11. La Migra (Cruza La Frontera II) 12. Consejos Narcos 13. Brujerizmo 14. Vayan Sin Miedo 15. Pititis, Te Invoco 16. Laboratorio Cristalitos 17. Division Del Norte 18. Anti-Castro 19. El Desmadre 20. Ritmos Satanicos
Unless you live under a rock (and that is meant in the nicest possible way), you are quite aware of the new Sevendust song “Enemy” and its apparent inspiration, Dez Fafara. Message boards have been bantering about it, even MTV.com posted a full on news piece about it. Well, what is the other side of the story? Dez Fafara gives the following on the situation: “With all my focus being on my new project, DevilDriver, I hate to take the time to dignify Morgan Rose’s childish comments and hostile allegations regarding Coal Chamber. With that said be sure to check out the BRUTAL HEADBASHING METAL DevilDriver is waiting to unleash on the masses when we are on the road with “The Blackest Of The Black Tour” starting in Texas on October 23. Our self-titled album hits stores on October 27 and is sure to fulfill the appetite of any metalhead. Lastly, I would like to say I am glad that I did not inspire a love song for their lite rock ballad single and for Morgan Rose to please grow up.” That being said, it seems fitting to give fans of Dez Fafara and DevilDriver a couple new songs to hear from the band’s upcoming self titled release. In DevilDriver’s MUSIC section, we ask you check out the following two tracks: “I Could Care Less” and “Die (And Die Now).” Enjoy. Whilst there, check out the first photo ever of DevilDriver in the band’s PHOTO GALLERY. Pic taken earlier this month in LA.

Murderdolls HQ 10th September 2003 Greetings Ghouls and Germs! Starting Sept 23rd, I’m going to be doing a series of DJ dates and guitar clinics in the UK. The club nights are put together by the folks at Kerrang! magazine, the Guitar clinics by Hughes and Kettner. At the Club Kerrang! nights expect special guests, giveaways and tons of debauchery. If there is any less decadence than there was at the Kerrang! Awards aftershow party I will be thoroughly disappointed with the Kerrang! readers and our Ghoulscouts!! Kerrang! is giving you a night to go fucking nuts so take advantage of it. I certainly will! ‘Do Your Own Damn Clinic, Clinic’ is brought to you by the ghouls at Hughes and Kettner. Here is the deal: Normally a guitar clinic is some amazing shredder guy doing scales you can’t even pronounce, let alone play. I’m here to show you that it doesn’t have to be that difficult. How? Well, you’re going to do the clinic with me, thats how! I’ll go over a few of the things that I have learnt, the gear I use and how to play ‘White Wedding’. Then I’m going to invite anyone up to play ‘White Wedding’ with me. í¢äåñDont worry, they can’t fuck it up any more than we do,í¢äå laughed Joey when I told him about the idea. We also plan on giving a ton of stuff away at the clinics too. We have always been a very DIY band and always interacted with our fans on a personal level, so yeah, you get a chance to play a Murderdolls song with a Murderdoll! You don’t know how much I’m looking forward to seeing all the Ghoulscouts from all the various UK troops. If these things go well we may add some more in November, in and outside of the UK. Oh yeah…and on behalf of the whole band, a massive í¢äåñThanks!í¢äå to everyone who voted for us in the Kerrang! Awards. You rule!! Following on from yesterday’s ‘Questioning Kroeger Pt 1’ news story, we now present Part 2. Insider info on Nickelback, from Mike Kroeger. Once again, questions sent in by our teamers. 4. What are your favourite places to visit? Apart from home of course! “The UK is really cool, and so is Japan.” 5. Is it hard being away from your families and how do you cope with being away for so long? “I try to bring the wife and kids out as much as I can.” 6. How long did it take to write and produce The Long Road? “The writing process is always going, but the recording took about four months in total.” Tune in tomorrow for insider info from Ryan ‘Nik’ Vikedal. Meanwhile, back to the Stalking Facts. Nickelback Stalking Fact #3: Last night, had you been in Belgos, near Covent Garden, London, you would have seen Nickelback, their crew, and most of the UK RR staff, dining in the rather bomb-shelter-like ‘The Vault’ area of the restaurant. And the accompanying 6′ “stick” of schnapps shots. Nickelback Stalking Fact #4: Yesterday daytime, the band paid visits to Capital FM (Leicester Square, London), plus Hit 40 UK – one of the UK’s biggest chart shows… as well as the Q2 Studios, to record messages for various radio stations. Nickelback Stalking Fact #5: Today is a day off for Nickelback, and so most of the band and their crew are roaming almost-loose in London. Where exactly? We have no idea. We say almost-loose, for Nickelback’s head of security Hawk will be roaming also, and he has more eyes in the back of his head than band members & crew put together. Nickelback Stalking Fact #6: Get up early tomorrow, get your cornflakes and turn your TV on to ITV. Nickelback will be appearing on GMTV at approximately 7:45am. There’s a little surprise for the band as well, which we haven’t told them about!
Coming soon to a covermount CD near you… To My Surprise’s ‘Get It To Go’ will be on the following magazine cover-mount CD’s: Rocksound (17/9) & Kerrang (24/9).
