Kings Of Extreme Metal

Posted on February 12, 2008

A most proper press release, for a most proper signing, Cradle Of Filth: Roadrunner Records Sign Kings of Extreme Metal CRADLE OF FILTH New York, NY – Roadrunner Records are proud to announce the signing of England’s notorious extreme metal outfit, CRADLE OF FILTH. The band, second-stage headliners of this year’s Ozzfest, and having just finished a tour in America supported by Type O Negative and Moonspell, are delighted by the recent turn of events. Dani Filth, the group’s often outspoken vocalist had this to say about the move – “Obviously everybody in the band is very excited about the decision to sign to the label. I believe Roadrunner will definitely give us a much further push and without doubt, better credibility within the extreme metal scene. Bring on 2004, the year destined to be spattered with Filth…” Roadrunner are equally thrilled, as A&R man, Mike Gitter states, “As all truly great bands do, Cradle of Filth provoke. That makes people draw a line. Cradle assault the senses: hitting both head and groin. Cradle of Filth are leaders rather than followers – often copied, never replicated. They have already left a bloody stain on the Encyclopedia Metallicus – Roadrunner and I are excited to help make the world a FILTHIER place.” CRADLE have already written enough material for their first album with Roadrunner (their sixth full length to date) and are due to begin recording in late January with a release date scheduled for early June. The album, tentatively titled ‘Nymphetamine’ (roughly translated as the druggish beast-like addiction to beautiful, classical women) will feature the following tracks (as of December ’03): Medusa And Hemlock Nemesis Prey Gilded Cunt Absinthe With Faust Painting Flowers White Never Suited My Palette Coffin Fodder Filthy Little Secret Gabrielle Swansong For A Raven CRADLE bassist, David Pubis, describes the new material as an “eclectic mix between the group’s ‘Damnation..’ and ‘Cruelty…’ albums with a renewed vigor for melody, songmanship and plain fucking weirdness spat into the smelting bowl. Revolting human worms, you have been warned!” Cradle Of Filth, welcome aboard…

Holy Days Ahead

Posted on February 12, 2008

A bit back, Roadrunner Records signed another act from the great land of Canada, this one called High Holy Days. How did it happen? Why? Their A&R rep from the country writes the following: It’s finally happening. Fuck I’m excited! The best rock band in Canada – HIGH HOLY DAYS – will be releasing their debut album ‘All My Real Friends’ through Roadrunner Records in March 2004. It’s been a long time coming for these guys…man, and this disc couldn’t represent great rock music any better. Start to finish ‘All My Real Friends’ is a rock-out disc. And the live show, man, forget about it. HIGH HOLY DAYS lives and dies on the stage. Dudes, I’m a punk A&R brat, and I don’t EVER sing lyrics at shows (it’s not fawwwk’in cool ya know?), but I SING these lyrics. I can’t help it. So now to stop being so gushy and shit, here’s how it came to be… I first heard the disc through my good friend Mike who came by and literally told me, í¢ä‰åñYOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THIS. YOU HAVE TO HEAR HOW GOOD THIS IS.í¢ä‰åŒ So we sat down and listened and within 30 seconds I wasn’t thinking ‘I have to hear this,’ I was thinking, ‘I HAVE TO SEE THIS.’ Mike and I figured out how to make it happen as fast as possible, got in a car, and headed 5 hours into Northern Ontario for what was to be my favorite show ever. These dudes had a bar filled with 300 people, from a town who’s population is only like 50,000, and on a fuck’n Monday night, no less. Not many indie bands can do that in Toronto… Sufficed to say they kicked my ass and the crowd soaked me in beer. The feeling was undeniable í¢ä‰åäóì it was pure rock energy. The singing maní¢ä‰åŒ_ I could go on about the singing. Marc Arcand’s voice is the strongest, most powerful voice in rock today. And dude, Billy MacGregor’s riffs kill it. You’ve got to see Billy play. Bass? Want to talk Bass? My man Jeremy Galda whacks out those bass strings like their dental floss, and Jay ‘The Man In Black (gloves)’ Guindon beats a set of drums like he’s summoning the gods. The gods must have been summoned because luckily after a few (hundred) beers with the guys that night we managed to become great friends and work together this past year to make sure their music and this record gets out the public. It’s a great album from a band who give it their all every second they play, even though their talents come as naturally as waking up in the morning (well, for some people, anyway). The first single, also entitled í¢ä‰åñAll My Real Friends,í¢ä‰åŒ will be hitting Canadian Rock radio in late January 2004, and on the shelves in March 2004. International release dates (US included) are yet to be confirmed. But keep your eyes peeled because HIGH HOLY DAYS will be passing through your town more than once this year and leaving a serious impression on your eardrums. – Jamie Milligan A&R Roadrunner Records High Holy Days, welcome aboard.

Crazy. ..’nuff said on that ) Now we’re back to our normal boring lives in Sacramento & trying to figure out some local shows to keep busy until the next tour. Speaking of being back in Sac… I was at the Monkey Bar talking to my friend Tony, who is visiting here from London and he had never heard the term “cock blocking” before… don’t you U.K. kids know what “cock blocking” is?!?! If you don’t, just consider yourselves lucky! Just thought I’d share that… Aside of getting wasted at the local dive bars, we’re also getting ready to shoot a video for the track “Stalingrad”! Basically, the idea will be us playing a gig and trying not to look too stupid… cool idea huh? What else… I made this stencil that says “Red Tape” & have been going around spray painting shit with it… Our CD listning party got cancelled cuz JD’s wife freaked out at the thought of her house getting TRASHED, so it’s postponed until next month… all of you are invited! I guess we should also do a CD RELEASE show… we always forget to do that! Today, I’m gonna sit on my ass and play Vice City! Amir Of The Desert did rad job on the production & Don Clark (Asterik Studio) went nuts on the CD layout! So there. “RADIOACTIVIST” comin at ya in tha muthafukin ’04 -what! yeah, and finally …aaaah yes, Christmas: that special time of year when it’s cold and lonely – you just want to kill yourself at the thought of standing in line at overcrowded stores.
