KISS announced today that SONIC BOOM—the band’s highly anticipated CD, and its first new material in 11 years—will be released in the UK and Europe through Loud & Proud/Roadrunner Records on 5th October 2009 . SONIC BOOM, produced by the band’s Paul Stanley in Los Angeles, features 11 brand-new KISS anthems from the band that has sold over 80 million albums worldwide in a 35-year recording career.
KISS’ Gene Simmons says, “SONIC BOOM may be the best new record we’ve done since Destroyer! It is Rock And Roll Over meets Love Gun!” Paul Stanley confirms: “SONIC BOOM is the perfect title for what we’re creating – it’s earthshaking and deafening!”
SONIC BOOM is the first new KISS studio album to feature guitarist Tommy Thayer alongside Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons and drummer Eric Singer. It will be available as a single disc and also in a special three-disc set featuring a completely re-recorded greatest hits CD as well as a live DVD shot in Argentina during the band’s recent, record-breaking KISS ALIVE 35 South American tour.
Paul Stanley, “”Through all of the albums that are considered our classics, we tried to always find ways to give our fans extras that went beyond just the music. Besides our making the best KISS album in decades, including a bonus CD with 15 of our most famous songs and an additional live DVD, shot during our recent concert in Buenos Aires. So in every sense, SONIC BOOM is the ultimate return to classic KISS form. You wanted the best, you got the best!”
SONIC BOOM is released through Roadrunner Records imprint Loud & Proud, whose President Tom Lipsky comments: “Great artists make great music and KISS has certainly accomplished that with SONIC BOOM.” Adds Wally van Middendorp, Sr VP International of Roadrunner Records: “We are excited to have the world’s premier rock band join forces with the world’s premier rock label. SONIC BOOM is a brilliant album that will surely be recognized as one of best musical works in the history of KISS.” As Paul Stanley concludes: “Success comes from a winning team, and Roadrunner is the perfect partner for KISS in terms of understanding what this album is and also having a great track record of success.”
We are pretty excited here at the Roadrunner office. We heard three new tracks from the upcoming Atreyu album AND they will be in the country next week to play the Reading / Leeds Festival (Saturday and Friday respectively) so we figured we would shuffle the iPod of an Atreyu member this week.
Bass player Marc has always been good company at the bar / jukebox, so we opted for his pod for the shuffling action and this is what he came back to us with- great tracks and some great anecdotes too. Enjoy!
Nine Inch Nails – The Great Destroyer
So psyched this was the first song that came up. I’ve been a huge NIN fan since I was sneaking a walkman into class in 6th grade listening to tapes of The Downward Spiral and Pretty Hate Machine. The first time I heard this song I was on a mountaintop buddhist community in Japan (I’m not kidding either, haha.) I remember walking down a 2 mile path through a graveyard forest, dumbfounded by the beauty of the song and my surroundings.
Everytime I Die – Guitarred And Feathered
If you haven’t seen this band live yet, go to their site and find out when they’re playing nearest to you as their shows are a blast. I remember once on Ozzfest 04 Jordan their guitar player was like 700$ in debt to Hatebreed’s tour manager Sully in a dice game. Sully said he’d wipe the debt clean if Jordan got “Sully” tattooed in the Slayer font on his leg. Needless to say there were MANY debts paid off by shitty tattoos that tour.
The Receiving End Of Sirens – The Salesman, The Husband, The Lover
This band sadly broke up before their prime. The two records they wrote have become staples of my listening Library and I just wish we could be graced with more! I remember going to see some random band at Showcase theatre in Corona, CA and TREOS were opening up. I think after the first minute of them playing I went to buy the CD. I’ve NEVER ever done that, and haven’t since sadly.
Between the Buried and Me – All Bodies
This band is SO ridiculously talented it’s not even fair. They released a cover album not too long ago with songs from almost every genre possible and shredded the shit out of all of em. I figured they were tired of people saying that metal wasn’t hard to play? Or maybe just wanted to prove their diversity? I don’t know either way but they still blow me away. One time on Ozzfest 06 during this ABSURDLY epic part of their songs the stage manager made a mini stonehenge like in Spinal tap and lowered it onto the stage while a “little person” danced around it. Priceless.
Radiohead – Where I End And You Begin
I think everything I’ve ever heard from this band has become an instant classic since the first time I saw ‘Paranoid Android’ on MTV when I was in like 5th grade. Still yet to see them live though I’d probably punch your mother in the face if her face was a ticket dispense and my fist were a quarter (pound?)…

Head to THIS LOCATION to check out the webisode and watch this space for news of more updates from the guys- including an exclusive interview with Roadrunner UK and some behind the scenes with the guys when they perform at this years Reading / Leeds festival.
We know from chatting to our lads out on the road over the summer in the ole US of A that there is a common way for them to kick back on days off or post show. And DEVILDRIVER are no exception.
It involves men making fire, copious amounts of meat products and beer. And in Devildrivers case, some golf buggies…
Here we present Thrash & Burn part 3. Enjoy!
And don’t forget that the guys will be in the UK October- dates HERE. New album PRAY FOR VILLAINS is out now. CLICK TO BUY ONLINE.
