Before we load up the Roadrunner UK staff top 10’s of 2009, we thought we would give you another preview of what you will be finding amongst the wide variety of albums discussed within them.
Today is the turn of Creative Services Manager Andy Pritchard. Check out what he had to say about Converge’s ‘Axe To Fall’:
“They may always deliver live, but for me – and a lot of other people too – they’ve always fallen well short of ‘Jane Doe’. There’s a good reason ‘Axe To Fall’ is being heralded as Converge’s new ‘Jane Doe’ and that’s because it’s flawlessly violent perfection. You know what this album is like? It’s like a massive bear bounding down a mountain with a chainsaw, wildly chopping down trees so they fall down the mountain and smash people to bits. That, my friend, is what it’s like. Except without the bear. Or the trees.”
Check out Andy’s full top 10 and that of the rest of the staff tomorrow (Wednesday 16th December) and dont forget to comment on the site with your thoughts or hit us up on the Roadrunner UK Twitter.

When on the road in the US recently, MetalHammer.co.uk caught up with MEGADETH’S Dave Mustaine for a quick catch up about how 2009 has been for him and the Megadeth machine and what 2010 may hold.
But instead of a 15 minute chat, Hammer and Dave were talking for well over an hour in what is one of the most candid interviews Dave has ever done. In part 1 of what is now a four part interview, Dave talks about his faith, his work with and opinion of producer Andy Sneap and how he is feeling about the future.
“I’m excited with what’s going on in my band. I’ve got my book coming out too. We’ve got this tour coming up with Slayer. I’ve got almost my entire next record ready to start recording so I can start packing my bags. Andy [Sneap] and I are going to be working together again on this one and we’ve forged an excellent relationship…He made recording more fun. I was still going through a lot of stuff too, you know with my personal life, all the touring caused my children to grow up without me around and that was very hard for me. You’re out working all the time and you have a family at home you want to stay loyal to, but you’re thinking all I do is go to work and send home a pay check. I don’t get to see my family, I don’t get to spend time with them. I know they’re there but I don’t get to realize them.”

Lifestyle and Club Promotions guru Mike Herbrik made room somewhere in his top 10 for Twin Atlantic’s ‘Vivarium’:
“At Manchester’s In The City 2008 I forced a bunch of people to come with me to check out this band I’d heard of called Twin Atlantic. They were rad and I knew it wouldn’t be long before they released something that caught people’s attention. I dig the songwriting, I dig the production, but I certainly do NOT gig the mandatory shirts-off-party that seems to plague their shows as of late. What’s up with that anyways?”
Check out our first preview, whoch was for Thrice’s ‘Beggars’ here. The full top 10’s will be posted on the website on WEDNESDAY 16TH DECEMBER.
Last Thursday night saw KIDS IN GLASS HOUSES headlined the Kerrang Radio Christmas Party in Birmingham, and a jolly good night was had by all. However, things did not go as smoothly as they could, with the band’s van breaking down en route.
Knowing the band would be mid panic, Kerrang prank called vocalist Aled to tell them Metro Station had been called in last minute to replace the band, seeing as how they were unsure if they would now be able to make it. Needless to say, Kerrang were pulling their legs, Kids In Glass Houses of course made the show but Aled was well and truly got!
You can listen to the call here– click on Kate Lawler’s Thursday show and fast forward to 2 hrs and 44 mins in. Enjoy!
