We may have only just announced that PORCUPINE TREE will be playing the Royal Albert Hall on the 14th October, but if ever there were tickets that we flying like the proverbial hot cakes, it’s these! MADINA LAKE are feeling inspired and so have taken a couple of weeks to hide themselves away and go with the writing flow and work on some new material. Yesterday saw the guys arrive at the apartment they rented in Florida and so they loaded an update to their Kyte player to mark the occasion. You can check this out in the player below.

Before work begins however, they have made some time to have a natter with their fans and they will be taking part in a LIVE webchat TODAY (Wednesday January 13th) at their USTREAM CHANNEL from 2pm EST (that’s about 7pm UK time).

Grammy nominated STONE SOUR announced today they are about to commence of work on a new album for Roadrunner Records- their first in four years! The band will record their third album in Nashville at Blackbird Studio with Grammy Award winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver, Rush, Alice In Chains), who also produced 2006’s sliver certified Come What(ever) May. The new album is due out this summer.

Frontman Corey Taylor cannot be more stoked about getting to work on the new record:

“I cannot wait to make this Stone Sour album. Everything already feels a million times stronger than anything we’ve done in the past. Plus getting back together with Nick is going to mean monstrous things. This is the year for Stone Sour.”

The new issue of Metal Hammer magazine has just hit the shelves and this month features a plethora of Roadrunner bands.

Within it’s pages this month, the mag’s staff run through their top albums of 2009 in ‘Critics Choice’. Of the 50 albums selected, Roadrunner bands make up one fifth, with last years releases from Heaven & Hell, Lamb Of God, Megadeth, Porcupine Tree, DevilDriver, Kiss, Dream Theater, The Parlor Mob, Alexisonfire and Atreyu all making the list.

And if that wasn’t enough, in the run-down of what’s hot in 2010 (aptly titled ‘the 2010 Hitlist’) there is yet more Roadrunner mentions, with Alexisonfire, Airbourne, Heaven & Hell, Soulflyl, Hatebreed, Trivium, Black Stone Cherry, Atreyu, DragonForce, Killswitch Engage Taking Dawn, DevilDriver, Opethl, Stone Sour, Within Temptation, Dream Theater, Delain, Rob Zombie, Megadeth, Cradle of Filth, Lamb+Of+God, Machine Head and Coheed & Cambria!

THEORY OF A DEADMAN are heading back to the UK in April to rock your blinkin’ socks once more and so we thought we would take you behind the scenes of the last time they visited these shores!

When they were last in the UK, the guys were kept very busy with not only their own shows, but with street festivals (for Absolute Radio), acoustic sessions (for Kerrang! Radio) and signings. they guys still found time however to fit in a game of air hokey, show us some pic tricks and give us a quick tour of their tour bus and tell us how the tour was going for them.

In the clip below ALEXISONFIRE guitarist Dallas and vocalist George walk us through the shooting of the bands new video for ‘The Northern’- a track from their current album Old Crows / Young Cardinals, which was released last year.

The main themes of the day seemed to be the cold, the long hours and doing the next shoot in Tahiti. However the guys got through the day with their usual humour and so as well as a great sneaky peak of what you can expect from the video, you will also be able to see the guys larking about with each other on the set.
