A-Z Guide to Joey Jordison!

Posted on June 28, 2016

Team Rock have put together a comprehensive A-Z guide to Joey Jordison. You can read the full piece over on the Team Rock site.

R is for… Roadrunner United

As one of the four ‘team captains’ for this titanic task, Joey wrote and produced five tracks for this all-star, ludicrously expansive album for Roadrunner Records’ 25th birthday, entitled The All-Star Sessions. The fact that he relished the chance to do Annihilation By The Hands Of God with Deicide’s Glen Benton, Enemy Of The State with the late Pete Steele and No Way Out with Glassjaw’s Daryl Palumbo just shows the breadth of Joey’s love and knowledge of heavy music. Plus, who wouldn’t want to work with Pete Steele? The sessions spawned a live gig as well, in which Jordison sat behind the kit for the majority of the tracks.

Motionless In White sign to Roadrunner Records!

Posted on June 24, 2016

Roadrunner Records has announced Motionless In White as the newest members of its illustrious roster. The Scranton, PA-based band will celebrate with the release of their label debut single, “570.” The track arrives today on all DSPs and is streaming now on the band’s official YouTube Channel.

Motionless In White commented on the Roadrunner family stating, “We are very honored to finally announce that we have signed with Roadrunner Records. Over the past few months, we’ve had the privilege of getting to know the hard working team that makes up Roadrunner, and felt a connection with their company immediately. It has been a dream of MIW for years to someday sign with their label, and we are elated to find that it is a perfect home for the band to continue building our career. We are very excited to start this new chapter and to keep working hard every day with Roadrunner by our side. Thank you to Roadrunner Records for opening your home to us, and thank you to all of the fans that have supported our band tirelessly over the years. Your support and contributions have helped lead to all of these amazing developments taking place for our band. We’re looking forward to many more years of this with all of you.”

Motionless In White is currently hard at work on their long awaited fourth studio album and full-length Roadrunner debut, slated for 2017. “570” marks the band’s first new release since 2014’s chart-topping “REINCARNATE,” which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s “Top Rock Albums” chart as well as at #9 on the overall SoundScan/Billboard 200. Motionless In White’s third studio album was highlighted by the blockbuster title track, a top 20 Active Rock radio favorite accompanied by a striking companion video now boasting close to 10 million individual views.

Motionless In White will celebrate “570” with nearly non-stop touring, kicking off with this year’s Vans Warped Tour ’16 Presented By Journeys. The dates – which see the band topping the new Monster Energy Party Zone – begin June 24th at Dallas, TX’s Gexa Energy Pavilion and then continue through mid-August (see attached itinerary). From there, Motionless in White will join forces with Korn and Breaking Benjamin on the eagerly awaited Nocturnal Underground Tour. The trek – also featuring Silver Snakes – gets underway September 27th at Cedar Rapids, IA’s US Cellular Center and then runs through mid-October. As if that weren’t enough, Motionless In White will be among the stars performing at a number of upcoming heavy music festivals, including Chester, PA’s Monster Energy Rock Allegiance (September 17th), Louisville, KY’s Louder Than Life (October 1st), and Sacramento, CA’s Monster Energy Aftershock (October 22nd). For complete details and remaining ticket information, please visit www.motionlessinwhite.net.

Motionless In White – whose frontman, Chris Motionless, graces the cover of Alternative Press’ current Vans Warped Tour ’16 special issue – are among the top nominees for the 2016 Journeys Alternative Press Music Awards Fueled By Monster Energy, with nods including “Best Live Band” and “Artist of the Year Presented By Monster Energy.” Fans are invited to vote now at the official #APMAS Voting Booth; the 2016 Journeys Alternative Press Music Awards Fueled By Monster Energy will be presented July 18th at The Schottenstein Center in Columbus, OH.

Founded in 2005, Motionless In White have won over audiences worldwide with their aggressive music and arresting imagery. The band – currently comprising lead singer Chris Motionless, guitarists Ryan Sitkowski and Ricky Horror, keyboardist Josh Balz, bassist Devin “Ghost” Sola, and drummer Vinny Mauro – have proven a ferocious and inventive live act, earning an increasingly fervent fan following via countless headline shows, festival sets, and tours alongside such iconic acts as Slipknot, Lamb of God, and A Day To Remember among others.

Advice from John Petrucci as well as an exclusive touring rig run through!

“Practice outside your comfort zone. Try improvising in keys like Ab – non-typical guitar keys – and that might force you to do things you might not normally gravitate towards because it all seems unfamiliar.” Dream Theater‘s John Petrucci has given MusicRadar an exclusive behind the scenes look at his touring rig as well as some advice for aspiring guitarists. A Week In The Life of Pete Steele

Posted on June 22, 2016

Pete Steele; “Type O Negative don’t rehearse unless we absolutely have to. I’m a firm believer in setting aside too little time for these things rather than too much, because idle hands are, of course, the work of Satan. And, boy, does she [Satan] love me.” Check out this awesome and insightful piece in full over on Metal Hammer!

KING 810, have released an official music video for “Carve My Name” taken from their debut LP MEMOIRS OF A MURDERER. The video, which is streaming now on KING 810’s official YouTube Channel, is a collection of artwork and photographs from the band’s dedicated fan base known as The Family.  The clip serves as a photobook to look back on as both the band and the community that surrounds them grow over the years. MEMOIRS OF A MURDERER is available at KING 810’s webstore and at all DSPs.

Earlier this year KING 810 entered the studio to begin work on their follow-up LP to MEMOIRS OF A MURDERER and took action as a pillar of the Flint, MI community with the release of new music taking aim at the water crisis devastating their hometown.   This past year the band released two new tracks: “We Gotta Help Ourselves,” a poignant track supported by a partnership with local Flint outlet Savage Village who created a unique T-shirt design available HERE and “crow’s feet,” which was featured on Not Safe To Drink: Music For Flint Water Crisis Relief, a charity compilation which is available HERE.  All proceeds from both the T-shirt design and compilation will be donated to The Community Foundation of Greater Flint’s ‘Flint Child Health & Development Fund.’ For more information on the Community Foundation of Greater Flint and the ‘Flint Child Health & Development Fund’ go to www.flintkids.org.

KING 810’s debut LP, MEMOIRS OF A MURDERER, garnered critical acclaim upon its release with ArtistDirect exclaiming, “It’s a concept album of destruction, sex, and rebirth in blood that’s as potent as anything on the big screen…This is an animal of its own. It’s uncaged now and ready to start a revolution.” Revolver stated, “It’s hostile music for dire times…’Memoirs of a Murderer’ is harsh and aggressive,” while The Detroit News added, “What KING 810 is saying and doing is holding up a mirror to the violent reality of life in Flint… the foursome is doing for Flint what N.W.A. did for Compton, Calif., holding a light up to their city’s harsh realities for all to see.” Kerrang! raved, “This is an album as haunting as it is vicious and disturbing,” and  Metal Hammer declared KING 810 “…the most exciting and controversial metal band to emerge from America in a decade.”

Kvelertak release official video for ‘Nattesferd’!

Posted on June 16, 2016

Kvelertak have released the official music video for “Nattesferd,” the title track from their acclaimed new LP which arrived this past May. The otherworldly clip – produced by Norwegian production company Bacon and directed by Jakob Marky – is streaming now at Kvelertak.com and on the band’s official YouTube channel. The video was filmed in Fårö, a Baltic Sea island off the south eastern coast of Sweden where Swedish filmmaker Ingmar Bergman lived / died and made several films, among them Through a Glass Darkly (1961), Persona (1966), Hour of the Wolf (1968), Shame (1968), The Passion of Anna (1969), and Scenes from a Marriage (1972).

Marky, a recent winner of the prestigious After Bergman Award which allowed the possibility of filming on Fårö, commented on the video stating, “I wanted to make something circular, as the track has it’s never-ending guitars, coming back to haunt you. I very much liked the idea of filming science fiction on the same places that Tarkovsky and Bergman visited. I think both of them were very big fans of the golden triangle too, or so I heard.”

Heading into 2016 NATTESFERD garnered “Most Anticipated” accolades from Rolling Stone, Stereogum and Consequence of Sound and now only a month since its release Kvelertak’s new LP is already receiving “Best of 2016” praises. SPIN recently placed the album’s lead single “1985” at #17 on their ‘66 Best Songs of 2016 So Far’ list proclaiming, “Let’s savor the fact we may never again hear a wedding of caramel and barbed wire quite like this ever again,” while Consequence of Sound put NATTESFERD at #5 on their ‘Top 10 Metal Albums of 2016 So Far’ declaring “NATTESFERD is the most fun you’ll have this year listening to metal.” Stereogum picked NATTESFERD as the #16 album on their “50 Best Albums Of 2016 So Far” recap stating, “…it’s an exhilarating invitation to a whole other world,” and Rolling Stone hailed the collection asserting, “Whether it’s juggling black-metal blast beats and Eighties-influenced power-rock riffs or indulging three-guitar Iron Maiden-esque prog-rock tapestries, everything they do sounds effortless.” NATTESFERD is available now at Kvelertak.com and at all DSPs.

Recorded live in Oslo, Norway’s Amper Tone Studio, NATTESFERD is produced by Kvelertak and mixed / engineered by Nick Terry (Lindstrøm, Turbonegro, The Libertines). It is the first of Kvelertak’s albums to be recorded in their home country of Norway. NATTESFERD follows 2013’s MEIR which made a stunning international impact, earning the six-piece numerous “Best of 2013” honors. Both Rolling Stone and SPIN placed “MEIR” at #2 on their ‘Best Metal Albums of 2013’ recaps, while The New York Times’ Ben Ratliff picked standout track “Spring Fra Livet” as one of his ‘Top Songs of 2013’. Additionally, MEIR landed at #15 on Stereogum’s ‘50 Best Albums of 2013,’ and came in at #4 on Revolver’s ‘20 Best Albums of 2013’ list.
