As with Ben and Chris from BLACK STONE CHERRY, All Axess also recently caught up with SOULFLY and CAVALERA CONSPIRACY guitarist Marc Rizzo for an exclusive lesson on how to play ‘American Steel’ from SOULFLY’s latest album ‘Enslaved’. Rizzo explained, “It’s a cool riff. It’s kind of a new direction we’ve been going in, with Soulfly. We’ve been getting more thrashy every single record, so it’s a pretty thrashy riff…I like riffs like that.”

BLACK STONE CHERRY guitarist/vocalist Chris Robertson and guitarist Ben Wells recently gave All Axess an exclusive rundown of their live rigs. When out on tour with BLACK STONE CHERRY, Wells equips himself with four guitars: “My main Les Paul, that I start the show with every night a Les Paul Classic; my favorite model of Les Paul. It’s a chambered guitar, so it’s a little lighter, so it doesn’t hurt your back as bad, especially if you’re holding it for a long time,” Wells explained. Roberston went on to explain why he also that he takes four guitars on the road with him – and what thing all four guitars have in common: “Pretty much every guitar I have is coil tappable…My favourite guitars are the PRS Grissom models. They’re awesome…They come stock with five springs, so you don’t have to worry about tuning much. They tend to keep their tune really well.”

GOJIRA released their new album ‘L’Enfant Sauvage‘ this week, as well as nailing 3 incredible UK dates in Sheffield, Birmingham and London. There have been a few live reviews from the shows popping up online and we’ve copied and pasetd a few for your reading pleasure!
Gojiramazing. Yeah they are. Their performance is so superlative that new words really do need to be created sometimes. Joe Duplantier is a behemoth at the front of the stage, crushing his technical riffs whilst displaying a humility and gratitude to the crowd that is as genuine as it is robust. It’s a Gojiramazing performance from the frontman. Spread that word as far and as wide as you can.
