LAMB OF GOD, MACHINE HEAD, SLIPKNOT, MASTODON, TRIVIUM AND ROADRUNNER RECORDS PRESENTED WITH METAL HAMMER GOLDEN GOD AWARDS…

Posted on June 13, 2012

It was the Metal Hammer Golden God Awards on Monday night and there were a few Roadrunner awards and appearances that deserve a special mention. See below for some of the RR UK highlights:

TRIVIUM guitarist Corey Beaulieu spoke to Metal Hammer at Download 2012 moments after the band won the Metal Hammer Golden God Award for Video Of The Year. The band weren’t able to stay for the award ceremony so Metal Hammer decided to award it to the guys during the weekend. Check out the interview below:

LAMB OF GOD‘s awesome album Resolution proved that no one throws down big riffs and bigger grooves than LAMB OF GOD. The gong was presented by Skindred’s Benji Webbe. BOSH!

The Golden God award for Best Album went to Atlanta metallers MASTODON, with the Riff Lord award being bestowed upon the mighty MACHINE HEAD axemen, Robb Flynn and Phil Demmel. The Best Festival appearance was awarded to SLIPKNOT for their 2009 set at Download Festival.

The most emotional award of the night for us had to be the Metal Hammer Golden Gods 2012 Inspiration Award. The Inspiration award goes to people who have made a defining impact on the world of heavy metal and this year that was us, ahhhh! Metal Hammer stated:

From signing seminal acts like Fear Factory, Type O Negeative, Slipknot and Sepultura to breathing new life into veterans like Korn and Megadeth, Roadrunner have been a huge force in our world, and we couldn’t be happier to see them grab this award. Congrats, everybody!

The award was presented by KILLSWITCH ENGAGE. Thanks for making us cry, guys!

The current RR UK team includes (from the left): Austin Collins, Oli Walkers, Lisa Cope, Kirsten Sprinks, Danny Corr, Mark Palmer, Danielle Sammeroff, Michelle Kerr (who was a bit camera shy!) and Andy Pritchard (who unfortunately couldn’t be with us on the night). You may also recognise Senior VP of A&R Monte Conner from RR US, the guys from KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and Sami who used to work at the label. What an awesome night!
