THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA UPDATE…

Posted on July 29, 2011

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA has been on tour with Warped 2011 across the States recently and although us Brits can’t be there, AltPress have been documenting the band’s tour, which you can see by CLICKING HERE.

The Examiner recently interviewed Mike Hranica about the upcoming album, Dead Throne, which is out on the 12th of September:

“We’ve worked with A Day To Remember since 2007, and we have always gotten along really, really well. Back a few Warped Tours ago Chris [Rubey] was working on their new record with them in helping writing and producing. Our bands have worked together professionally songwriting wise together, but it was our Chris with them. We’ve always talked a lot about having Jeremy come over to our camp and help with some melodies.

We basically split up the blunt songwriting through two different sessions of three or four weeks. One time in Lawrence, Kansas late last year, and then early this year in Chicago. Jeremy came up for a week and a half to Chicago, and he worked on 3-5 songs or 3-4 maybe. Some of them him and I would totally build patterns together, and melodies, and some of them he had a lot of ideas. On a portion of the record Jeremy definitely had a bit of a say, and help come up with some things, and some vocal parts. It was interesting because both him and I approach things entirely differently as far as how we write, but it came together nicely because we never actually butted heads even though we look at songs entirely differently. We were able to see where each of us were coming from and meet in the middle.”

There’s another insightful interview over on Noise Creep where Mike discuses the band’s early days:

“I went to a show almost every weekend and supported the local scene. I remember thinking how cool it was that the people playing in those bands were just like me, but they got to play music and express themselves through it. That was one of the most exciting things about joining this band. The Devil Wears Prada is the first band I’ve ever been in,” says Hranica.

The band’s forthcoming album, Dead Throne, is the follow-up to 2009’s critically acclaimed With Roots Above and Branches Below and was recorded at Zing Studios in Massachusetts with producer Adam Dutkiewicz (KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and TIMES OF GRACE). Additional synth/key production was handled by Joey Sturgis, whilst Jeremy McKinnon from A Day To Remember helped on the vocal production. The first single from the album is called Born To Lose and will be available as a digital single on the 14th of August.
