PERIPHERY – “WE HAVE A RULE- YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO BOB YOUR HEAD”

Posted on February 15, 2011

The rule that we always go by is that it has to groove; you can always bob your head to it. It can be as technical as people want to make it out to be, but most of it is 4 4 formation, there are those crazy parts on the album that are 5 or 7 or whatever but you can always bob your head to it and that’s the most important thing.” Spencer Sotelo, vocalist with PERIPHERY, told Sonic Shocks in a recent interview, “We’re not trying to put out the most technical thing possible. We’re trying to make it more accessible.

Spencer was talking to the site whilst the band were on their recent UK headline tour, which finished up in London this past Friday night. In the interview, which can be read in full at this location, Spencer also talks about the reception the band recieved in the UK, the unusual way in which the band got their multiple label deals and he spoke of their forthcoming EP release and how the music on there is indicative of the style the next album will move towards.

The songs that are on [the Icarus Lives E.P. are] are kind of just afterthoughts that were left over from the last record that we couldn’t fit on there, but the writing is more my style and has more of my stamp on the vocals so you can expect a lot more of what you hear on the E.P. on the next album“. comments Spencer.

Periphery’s current album Periphery is in stores now, or you can pick it up online at Play.com and iTunes.

More news on the forthcoming E.P. release coming soon…
