SLASH SCOOPS ALBUM OF THE YEAR AT CLASSIC ROCK AWARDS

Posted on November 11, 2010

Last night saw the movers and shakers of the rock world descend as noisily as you’d expect on London’s Roundhouse to party harder than Andrew WK at the CLASSIC ROCK AWARDS 2010.

Taking the headlines was guitar legend SLASH, who scooped the coveted Album of the Year gong for his self-titled debut solo LP. The great man then celebrated by joining labelmates ALTER BRIDGE onstage for a jaw-dropping run-through of ‘Rise Today’.

Myles Kennedy’s band of merry men also levelled the venue with an equally thunderous ‘Isolation’, watched from the floor by a prog heroes Steven Wilson and Mikael Akerfeldt, of PORCUPINE TREE and OPETH respectively.

Later on, HEAVEN & HELL‘s Tony Iommi presented the Metal Guru Award to his fellow Sabbathian Geezer Butler, while Wendy Dio accepted the Tommy Vance Inspiration Award for her late husband Ronnie James Dio.

Our congratulations to all the winners at what was truly a night to remember!
