A couple of weeks ago, METAL HAMMER held their annual Golden God Awards at the Indigo at London’s O2 Arena. It was a night filled with free beer, free jager and lots of stars from the heavy rock and metal fraternity and it was a night that saw Roadrunner bands pick up 5 awards, including the Golden God, which was picked up by none other than BLACK LABEL SOCIETY’S Zakk Wylde.

“I got nominated for ‘Douchebag of the Year’!…I want to retain my title once again!” He joked with us on the red carpet, “No, I got nominated for Golden God…I’m very excited, very excited…Whether you win or lose, it doesn’t really matter. Regardless it’s always cool coming over here and seeing everybody, just hanging and coming down here to say hi to everyone. Y’know, I double-conditioned [my hair] especially for today [laughs]...”

We hung out with AIRBOURNE at the awards, and spoke to lead singer Joel about presenting an award to Joe Perry of Aerosmith, about being on the cover of Metal Hammer and the recording of their latest video. Check it out in the player below.

The awards were filmed as always and you can check them out TONIGHT (June 2nd) on Scuzz TV on @ 9 p.m. They will be repeated July 3rd & 4th @ 11 p.m. You’ll see all the bands presented with their awards and you will catch Airbourne’s live performance, which closed the festivities.
