WHAT’S ON YOUR IPOD- PHIL DEMMEL (MACHINE HEAD)

Posted on July 31, 2009

It’s time for a new What’s On Your iPod! After being a part of many a dubious singalong in their dressing room, we knew if we hit up MACHINE HEAD guitarist Phil Demmel we would get some interesting shuffles, and we were not wrong. Some great tracks here. Crack open the ole Spotify and get down!

Don’t Know How-Joss Stone
Awesome song and one of my favorite soul/R&B voices right now. Not sure if she’s even legal drinking age yet but you’d never guess it sight unseen. Good post-rehearsal/gig wind-down song.

Mine are the Eyes of God- Corrosion Of Conformity
Great song, killer album. CoC rediscovered all their Sabbath, St.Vitus, Trouble roots and put out a rockin’ fucking record. Played the shit out of this. Only record (Blind) with singer Karl Angell (sp?) before Pepper took over full time.

Lunacy-The Plasmatics
Played in a band with Zetro from Exodus when I was in high school and we covered this. The Plas were so fucking heavy but still had that R&R element that I loved so much. This song was a perfect blend of both. Very underrated band.

SOS (Too bad) – Aerosmith
My buddy bought “Get Your Wings” and they quickly became a hard rock favorite. Rockin’ song, killer solo. Amazing songwriters. Joey Kramer killing it! Love this band to this day.

Road Mutants-Death Angel
Bay Area buddies singing about life on the road. Rob Cavestany trademark solo. Andy raging on the drums. Fun song. Great live band. “They smell like death so hold your breath…”.

Machine Head’s current album THE BLACKENING is in stores NOW. Pick it up online HERE.
