WHAT’S ON YOUR IPOD- DAVE PYBUS (CRADLE OF FILTH)

Posted on June 26, 2009

We have set another band member the weekly iPod shuffle challenge in an effort to uncover some guilty pleasures, and we think this time we may have succeeded in uncovering one!!! Check out CRADLE OF FILTH bassist Dave Pybus’ gems below…

Opeth “Heir Apparent”
This album had been sitting in my collection for well over 6 months before I even managed to listen to it, but Opeth never fail to leave me in awe. They simply make me jealous. Watershed reminds me of part of the War of the Worlds soundtrack perfectly mixed with old Morbid Angel. How can that not be brilliant?

The Misfits “20 Eyes”
I’ve got a ton of Misfits and never stop listening to them. They cheer me up and make me wanna sing along. ’20 Eyes’, from ‘Walk Among Us’, is just brilliant for that. Agrressive, catchy to the point horror punk, with great lyrics. I can’t wait for a re-union of the original line-up. If it ever happens, I’d travel anywhere in the world to see them!

Turisas “To Holmgard And Beyond”
I’ve not been a fan of Turisas for long, and it’s only since we toured with them earlier this year that I finally became poisoned with their music. Most excellent live act and very cool people to be on tour with. Really hope we get a chance at Bloodstock to hang out and drink a beer again.

The Spook “Summernite Stalker”
Ironically, a track I played bass on as guest in 2007! Germany’s graverock legends, who I’ve been a fan of for years, still remain more underground than Elvis himself. It’s criminal really how some bands never get the breaks. Produced by Mille Petrozza (Kreator) and mixed by Andy Sneap, you’d think people would start to take notice? I continue to spread the word and hope to see them live before my funeral.

Gary Glitter “I’m the Leader of the Gang (I Am)”
I loved this as a kid… erm… Seriously! I have this song as part of my DJ set as a bit of a laugh. I recently opened a set in Ipswich with it, and you are never sure how its gonna go down (no pun intended). Amazingly, the whole place cheered and erupted into a sing-along. I feared I’d be lynched. Oh the joys of everyone being drunk eh!
