Nickelback On Planet Rock

Posted on February 12, 2008

Check out a fantastic feature online at PlanetRock. Remember that acoustic show Nickelback did in Australia a bit back? Well, music and interview audio from the show is now being featured at www.PlanetRock.com.au (the ‘.au’ is for Australia). Just follow the “FEATURES” section and look for the Nickelback pic. Earlier this morning (Jan 15) a few semi trucks met right outside the capital of British Columbia. What was in these trucks? Sound equipment which came from Vegas, a light system which came from Orlando, and pyro & stage sets which came from L.A. Add all of these together and you get the new Nickelback stage show which will be unveiled during their imminent Canadian tour. Nickelback’s road manager Chief tells “it’s 5 times bigger a light show than our previous run of the U.S.” Damn, if you saw the U.S. tour run, that was a show…Chief continues, “the guys from Pantera and Godsmack will be doing our pyro.” Welcome to the new Nickelback show. All the trucks drove onto ferries this morning, to make the trip into Victoria, the capital of BC, the location for the first two dates of the Canadian tour. Today, tonight, and tomorrow afternoon will consist of band rehearsals with the new gear for the new stage show. Tomorrow night (Jan 16), their show is open for viewing.

Random Nickelback Facts #2-5

Posted on February 12, 2008

Random Fact – Sex & Rock-n-Roll, perfect together. It’s true. Well, Playboy has a Sex & Rock-n-Roll lifestyle website. It’s true. AND, about a month back, Nickelback was interviewed for the site. You can watch all 11 퉌_ minutes of the goods online at www.SexnRocknRoll.com. A young lady by the name of Jessica, Miss October 1996, hosts the interview. It is pool side, and she looks great. In response to the last question during the interview when Jessica asks where the band sees themselves in five years, Chad aptly replies, “(we) always have been and always will be a rock band.” Respect The Rock Random Fact – we previously told that “How You Remind Me” spent 13 consecutive weeks at #1 on the US Mainstream Rock chart. Did You Know? Those 13 weeks at #1 tied The Rolling Stone’s record of 13 weeks at #1 with the track “Start Me Up”. It’s true. Nickelback’s song “How You Remind Me” has reached new heights once again. In the Billboard Hot 100 last week the track went over the 120 Million mark in audience, becoming the first Rock track in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 to surpass the 120 million listener barrier. Take a second to comprehend what you just read…the previous rock track to hold the record was from Santana with the song “Smooth”, which peaked at 116 million in December of 1999. Also, receiving 8774 spins last week has officially broken the all time one week spin total which was previously set by…are you ready for this…the divas doing “Moulin Rouge” (Christina Aguilera, Pink, Lil Kim and Mya) last year. Tides they are a turning…respect the rock… Random Fact – God Help Us All…we rec’d an email last night from Sidney…you might remember her from previous Random Facts. Well, she hipped us to something new – Nickelback’s first EP, Hesher, was just sold for over $490 on eBay. We shit you not. God Help Us All indeed… Sidney, thanks for the line.

A Nickel Back…

Posted on February 12, 2008

Do you know where Nickelback got their name? Well, apparently back in Vancouver, someone in the band worked at Starbucks. All the prices there were $2.95 or $3.95 or $1.95…you get the idea, everything ended in 95 cents. Hence, said member working there would spend all day saying “here’s your nickel back”. Well, that is where the name Nickelback was conceived…

Random Nickelback Fact #1

Posted on February 12, 2008

Random Fact – This one comes to us via email from a guy named Disturbed. His words are as follows: “i keep reading stories about random nickelback stuff and i was wondering if u were aware that the lead singer chad was a song producer for a band called default. that’s not really what i’m getting at, but i wanted to share with u that he makes a guest appearance in their video….he’s one of the guys fighting and the 2 girls trying to break them up…it’s kind of hard to see their faces cuz it’s blurry, but i watched it a few times and noticed it was him. i just thought it was odd cuz i’m hearing of them everywhere and then they pop up with default. just thought ya would want to know that” We checked out this story with Nickelback’s A&R Rep and all is true… If you have a Nickelback random fact, drop us a line.

Watch How You Remind Me Video

Posted on February 12, 2008

What you are about to see was shot in Vancouver over July 28 and 29, 2001 by The Brothers Strause (Linkin Park and Powerman 5000 videos), in some big, empty warehouse. For the video, half of the warehouse was transformed into a club, and the other half into an apartment (apartment of some chick, you’ll see). Taping started at 7am on both days, ending around 10pm. In the immortal words of Nickelback’s A&R Rep Ron Burman, “I love the video! It really portrays the band the way they are live and shows how much power the song has.” Check it out in the VIDEO section.

How You Remind Billboard

Posted on February 12, 2008

“How You Remind Me,” the first single from SILVER SIDE UP, is burning up the US Billboard’s rock charts. It’s has quickly shot to #1 on the “Mainstream Rock Tracks” chart after only eight weeks, knocking out Staind’s “It’s Been Awhile,” which has been lodged in the #1 slot for 20 weeks. The song jumps to #2 on the “Modern Rock Tracks” chart (it was #5 last week), and last week it mounted the #75 spot on the “Hot 100 Singles” chart. In their native Canada, “How You Remind Me” debuted in the Top 20 on the country’s singles chart, marking the highest debut from a Canadian rock band ever. It currently sits in the #1 slot for the second consecutive week, marking the band’s first #1 single in their homeland. This is only the second time in history that a Canadian band has been #1 on both the Canadian and U.S. Rock charts at the same time. The Guess Who was the first band to mark this feat for their 1970 hit “American Woman.” In other chart news, “How You Remind Me” is #1 on Album Network’s “Most Requested” chart, above Drowning Pool and Puddle of Mudd.
