We’re Out Like Martha Stewart

Posted on February 12, 2008

Took a few moments to catch up with Cliff, Dry Kill Logic’s vocalist. Here’s what he had to say for himself. “We’ve locked our asses in the studio all year working on the new stuff, and we couldn’t be happier. It’s an evolution of the band in every aspect. For those of you that appreciated the melody in songs like ‘Feel the Break’, ‘Track 13’ and ‘Goodnight’, you will have plenty to choose from. And for all the maniacs that loved the heaviness of ‘Pain’, ‘A Better Man Than Me’ and ‘Rot’, we have taken it to a new level of aggression. It’s been a wacky year for DKL for sure if you thought we were pissed on TDSON, then you better duck and cover when you hear this one.
We’re out like Martha Stewart. See you all on tour.” Always a pleasure getting to chat to Cliff… thanks for the update dude.

Ill Nino Rock The UK

Posted on February 12, 2008

Ill Nino kicked off the weekend in style performing at the Kerrang! Weekender held in Camber Sands. Arriving late afternoon the band were more than happy to squeeze in a quick signing session which, according to Kerrang! staff at the event, drew the biggest crowd of all the bands participating over the weekend. An explosive set included a guest appearance by Benji of Skindred on Soulfly cover Eye For An Eye, dedicated to late Drowning Pool singer Dave Williams, some classic Ill Nino tracks inc new single Unreal, and a rousing chorus of Happy Birthday to Jardel! With a late bus call of 4am, there was plenty of time for aftershow japes and Jagermeister. The band ended the weekend playing Sunday night at the Waterfront in Norwich, to a rapturous reception – resulting in hoards of gig goers hovering around the tour bus and dressing room exits in the hope of getting a few autographs for a couple of hours after the show ended. Their patience paid off, for showers and fresh clothes later, marker pens were duly produced and scribbles given. The band play Sheffield tonight, and then return Oct 26th for a further 7 dates before returning to the US to write the next album. Keep your ears out for new songs being played this tour… including album closer ‘With You’.

Chimaira Slays

Posted on February 12, 2008

So, what’s happening in the world of Chimaira? In this month’s U.S. issue of Guitar World magazine, Slayer guitarist Kerry King speaks out on his ‘favourite new band’ Chimaira. And it goes exactly like this: “They are my favorite new band, they’re entertaining, which a lot of bands aren’t. To me there’s more than just standing on stage and playing your instrument. That’s boring – you’ve gotta sell it. And these kids love what they do and you can tell. I guess I’d call their sound a takeoff of us and Slipknot because they do have a programmer and that’s obviously something we’ve never used. He fits in the mix, he sings some backup and he’s entertaining. They’ve got some good stuff going down – it’s heavy and it’s got energy. I don’t think they’re writing the best songs they’re ever gonna write yet, but if they continue down the road that I think they’re potentially going down, they will be a force to be reckoned with.” Now that’s a fuckin’ endorsement… Speaking of writing songs, Chimaira has around a dozen new tracks in the bag. They are currently on a four-night/week rehearsal schedule putting on the final touches and getting the goods down…perhaps their best songs yet? Perhaps. Chimaira will be driving down to Louisville, Kentucky later this month for a show at Tek World on Oct 19th…a break from the writing & rehearsing, a chance to play some new material live and see how it feels. Rock. And if you have yet to see the band, check out their self produced video for “Sp lit” off Pass Out Of Existence in the band’s VIDEO section.
