A Whole Lot Of Sleepin’ Going On

Posted on February 12, 2008

Earlier this morning, one half of the band Chimaira touched down at Heathrow airport near London (vocalist Mark Hunter, guitarist Rob Arnold, and bassist Jim LaMarca). Their mission: along with Colin Richardson, to mix the upcoming The Impossibility Of Reason album. Tomorrow (Feb 8), after a one night stay in London, the three will head to the town of Lincolnshire, where Colin conducts his business. So, following a quick check in at their hotel (well, maybe not too quick, Marks tells us it took 15 minutes to figure out how to flush the toilet), the three lads joined us here in the Roadrunner UK office. After meeting all the staff (grand total: 7), getting food, and pilfering the office for promo items and CDs (not necessarily in that order), the guys hooked up online via the very computer I’m typing on for a quick chat with Chris from our New York office. Roadrunner: Most memorable moment from the flight? Jim (with a grin): The flight attendants…they were pretty cute. note: they flew United Airlines Roadrunner: What was the first thing a local told you that you could not understand? not surprisingly, apparently it was the first person they spoke with… Mark: When we got off the plane trying to find the subway (He means the Tube, folks) we couldn’t understand the guy we asked for directions…so he ended up saying ‘just follow me.’ Roadrunner: What’s the weather situation? No need to answer if going to say ‘dreary and rainy.’ Mark: It’s warmer than Cleveland right now – about 30 degrees warmer. Roadrunner: First meal whilst in town? No need to answer if going to say ‘fish & chips.’ Mark: We had Greek food. Roadrunner: When do you start making the trip to Lincolnshire? Mark: Tomorrow at 2:00. Plans to spend the afternoon taking in the sights of Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, and Tower Records Piccadilly have been scrapped in favour of sleeping back at the hotel… the previously energetic Chimaira dudes are fading fast. Call from Mark 15 mins later from hotel: I’m all ready for bed. But call me later before you leave to come over here. I’ll make sure I’m up and dressed. Er, you might need to call a couple times… A night on the town with Roadrunner UK to look forward to then. While they sleep, we’re belting out the new Chimaira tunes they left us with… m/(–)m/

Fixation On The Liveness

Posted on February 12, 2008

If you live near Springfield, Massachusetts(where?) you are now officially a lucky person. On February 19th, Killswitch Engage are set to takeover the Fat Cat for an all ages $5 show. Why are we mentioning this US show on the Roadrunner UK website? Killswitch Engage will be filming a brand new live video for the song ‘Fixation On The Darkness’ off their stonking album ‘Alive Or Just Breathing?’ at that particular show. If only that ocean was a little bit smaller…

Inside The Lyrics

Posted on February 12, 2008

Did you pick up the issue of Rocksound magazine recently that had the unreleased Stone Sour song ‘Inside The Cynic’ on it’s covermount CD? We’ve had several emails in asking us for the lyrics to this track, so direct from top A&R dude Monte Conner, here they are for your kareoke pleasure: INSIDE THE CYNIC I hear my poisons in the multitude Why was I damned a human deemed too rude? Somewhere between the madness and my mind I live with lesions called the human kind I wander aimlessly amongst the herd Infesting shadows, I am undeterred I give opinion cuz you give no peace They say we manifest the new disease MY HEAD EXPLODES! MY SOUL BERATES! ERRATIC BONDS, THEY SCAR MY FACE! I WON’T – EXIST! I WON’T – PERSIST! (Solo: Jim) I cast a weary gaze into the crowd 10,000 reasons dropped into my mouth My theoretix can’t begin to live So I have nothing more than life to give MY HEAD EXPLODES! MY SOUL BERATES! ERRATIC BONDS, THEY SCAR MY FACE! I WON’T – EXIST! I WON’T – PERSIST! See the lies you’ve given me This is not what I should be You say your truth isn’t mine Everything – everything – everything – everything you say’s a lieí¢ä‰åŒ_ MY HEAD EXPLODES! MY SOUL BERATES! ERRATIC BONDS, THEY SCAR MY FACE! I WON’T – EXIST! I WON’T – PERSIST! I won’tí¢ä‰åŒ_ exist, I won’tí¢ä‰åŒ_ persist I won’tí¢ä‰åŒ_ exist, I won’tí¢ä‰åŒ_ persist

Coal Chamber’s B-Side

Posted on February 12, 2008

Visited www.CoalChamber.com lately? Dez recently posted the following message: “Hello Coal Chamber kids. This is Dez and I got some great news for anybody that’s into Coal Chamber stuff. It has come to my attention that Roadrunner Records would like to put out a b-sides album using b-sides from the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Coal Chamber albums as well as some unreleased material that has never been heard. Yesterday (02/03), Meegs Rascon and I were on the phone discussing how we can best help Roadrunner to approach this. I myself, have numerous unheard tracks as well as over 100 live shows recorded to DAT. We in Coal Chamber would definitely like to see some live stuff on this album, as Coal Chamber has always been a live band first. We would like all of you to write into the site and tell us what you would want to hear on this b-sides. In other words, we want your ideas so we can best serve all the people who listen to our music. In other news, while I am working on my project Deathride, and Meegs is working on a side project of his own, we have jointly come together and spoken about another Coal Chamber album. Meegs has already written 3-4 new tracks and Nadja will begin going over to Meegs’ house next week to lay her bass tracks. So you never know…there might be something in the works quicker than we think. There’s room in this world for a lot of music, and it looks like you’re going to be getting a lot of music from us. By the way, Coal Chamber’s new drummer is exceptional. That’s it for now…haven’t written a message in a while on this site. Hope everyone is doing well. Keep listening to heavy music, and keep your ears tuned towards Roadrunner Records.”

Inhale

Posted on February 12, 2008

Stone Sour is currently a couple days into their first ever European tour. Last night, it was Madrid, Spain. Tonight, it’s Barcelona. Their current tour of Europe will keep them abroad until the end of the month. While you wait for the band to tour the UK from February 19th, did you know that their latest video – “Inhale” – is complete? The video should be up here on the Roadrunner site by the end of the week. Do note, very cool video, and will be well worth your time to download – some very, very classic shots of Corey, Jim, and the rest of Stone Sour. No shit. And one final note, on those UK dates… the London Astoria show is utterly sold out.

London Bound

Posted on February 12, 2008

Get busy packing, get busy mixing… This Thursday (Feb 5) Chimaira’s Mark Hunter, Rob Arnold, and Jim LaMarca will be boarding a plane en route to London – They are to arrive at 9am on Friday. Then, it’s one day in London for the boys before making the drive to Lincolnshire to start mixing their upcoming The Impossibility Of Reason release with Colin Richardson. The album will be mixed at the Chapel in Lincolnshire. Onward and Upward, …from the new album, it has been confirmed that “Down Again” will be the cut which will be put to video. Details on the shoot not yet confirmed, but the new video should be in house by release of the album…BUT, you will not have to wait that long to see new Chimaira video footage – keep an eye out for a 4 part video series from the making of the album starting the end of this month (kudos to Todd Bell on this front). What are the band planning to do on their day in London? Mark muses, “I am thinking, we get off the plane, go through customs, jump in a cab to our hotel, check in, take a quick nap/shower etc… hail a cab to RR UK, meet everyone, then I will tell your boss that you all have to have the rest of the day off for a day of sight seeing and a night of warm beer.”
