OPETH DIGI SINGLE TO PRECEED ‘WATERSHED’ RELEASE

Posted on April 10, 2008

The forward-thinking Swedes who seamlessly and fluidly combine metal, classic rock, prog, folk and free-form jazz, continue the time-honoured Opeth tradition on Watershed, their second album for Roadrunner Records. With this, their ninth opus, Opeth continue to shake things up, turn the corner and push the limits of their sound. And the results are breathtaking. Watershed sounds at once, completely like and absolutely nothing like previous Opeth records. Watershed takes all that is Opeth, and goes where Opeth have never gone before.

Watershed picks up where 2005’s flawless Ghost Reveries left off, beginning contemplatively before erupting into full-bore chaos. It’s an album that combines brute, blunt force with whimsical, melodic beauty.

With Watershed, Opeth aren’t afraid to think outside of the box, but the album isn’t too much of a departure for Opeth. The signature Opeth sound –

NEW DRESDEN DOLLS RELEASE FOR THE SUMMER

Posted on April 10, 2008

THE DRESDEN DOLLS return with No, Virginia, an eclectic mix of songs old and new that span the entire first five years of the band’s existence, giving a rare and enthralling insight into from whence this inimitable Brechtian punk duo came and to where they’re heading post Yes, Virginia, their last album.

Vocalist Amanda Palmer elaborates:

“Ingredients for a No, Virginia: 1) one b-side from our last record, 2) four unreleased recordings, 3) one old demo, 4) one 80s cover tune (of course) and 5) five brand-new recordings of older tunes we’ve never laid to tape. Sprinkle on some Sean Slade producer-action and viola…instant record!”

Full tracklisting is as follows:
1.Dear Jenny
2.Night Reconnaissance
3.Mouse and the Model
4.Ultima Esperanza
5.Gardener
6.Lonesome Organist Rapes Page Turner
7.Sorry Bunch
8.Pretty In Pink
9.The Kill
10.Sheep Song
11.Boston

As a compliment to No, Virginia, The Dresden Dolls are releasing a 350-page opus titled The Virginia Companion. An unconventional blend of songbook and scrapbook, it includes never-before-seen photos, notation and background stories for all of the songs from No, Virginia and Yes, Virginia, along with sheet music for all twenty-four tracks.

If you are unfamiliar with The Dresden Dolls, you can check out some tracks HERE

No, Virginia hits stores on May 19th.

MACHINE HEAD- FIA- THE PRE RR YEARS!

Posted on April 9, 2008

MACHINE HEAD have been the definition of heavy metal since Robb Flynn first took up his guitar in that name, and here is the video to prove it. Dating pre signing to Roadrunner for the release of their debut Burn My Eyes, this is a self made video for the track ‘Fuck It All’ (titled Block on the aforementioned release)/. Utter freakin’ GENIUS that has continued until the current day with the release of last years THE BLACKENING.

KILL HANNAH CHECK IN FROM THE ROAD!

Posted on April 8, 2008

KILL HANNAH hit the road last week with Aiden on a massive UK and European tour. We caught up with guitarist Johnny to see how things have been going and he had this message…

Hello, everyone! Jonny here!
We’re just about two weeks in to our UK/European tour with Aiden, and so far, it’s gone exceptionally well. The tour kicked off at the Pyramid Center in Portsmouth to a packed house filled with rabid fans. Honestly, playing such an intense show for all those energetic kids was truly the perfect remedy for my jetlag! The next few shows were equally as intense. We hit Cardiff (first time playing/visiting Wales), Bristol (LOVE ‘The Hatcher Inn’, little pub right across from the venue), Dublin (had to have a Guinness!), Glasgow (played an acoustic set on XFM radio before the sold out show, and had a rad dj gig later that night at a popular night club), and of course, MANCHESTER. That city is a band favorite. The shows are always sold out, the fans are violently obsessed (which is a good thing 🙂 ) and most of our favorite bands come from Manchester. We had a good day full of press/interviews and sight seeing before the show, and afterwards, hung out at the famous ‘Big Hands’ pub. The next night was Oxford (lovely city, and the fans are wonderful), followed by Norwich (first time playing there, and judging by the crowd response, definitely NOT the last time), and finally, Rock City in Nottingham. Nottingham, like Manchester, has ALWAYS been a great city for us to play. This entire tour has been a blast. It’s great to see familiar faces, but also so many new faces at these shows. The UK has definitely welcomed Kill Hannah with ‘open arms’. Thank you!! Ciao for now!

The guys also recorded some interviews for some of our friends over at Kerrang! and Sugar, talking about various things- check them out!

NICKELBACK ADD EXTRA SHOW TO UPCOMING TOUR

Posted on April 8, 2008

Our favourite rockers from Canada NICKELBACK have announced an extra London date for their upcoming UK tour. The guys will now be playing WEMBLEY ARENA on Sunday 21st September in addition to their O2 date, as with the ongoing closure of parts of the Jubilee tube line on weekends, it would have been difficult for folks to find transportation to a second show at the O2.
