“The Gospel of Filth: A Black Metal Bible” is the title of a new book soon to be published.
Currently being written by music journalist Gavin Baddeley (author of ‘Lucifer Rising’ among others) with the help of COF singer DaniFilth, the novel includes popular myths about the band and each chapter is loosely based around one of the metal outfit’s nine albums.
Commented Dani, “It’s going to be a coffee table book, the sort of thing you can just flick through.
“Gavin’s really well-versed in the occult and black metal and everything. I’ve read the first part and it’s excellent.
“The opening’s about the rise of the evil British Empire. It references why Hollywood always places a quintessential English gentleman in the role of the bad guy – people like Alan Rickman.”
“The Gospel of Filth: A Black Metal Bible” official book description reads as follows:
“The members of Cradle Of Filth are the titans of black metal underground. Now Dani Filth and Gavin Baddeley lay bare the fascinating underworld of contemporary culture.
“Dissecting the Satanic sources that have influenced and informed Cradle Of Filth, with a roadmap to every significant landmark in the domains of darkness, including the arcane secrets of Black Magic, via the sex rites of vampirism. Artfully combining Hammer horror style schlock, dripping with eroticism, backed by authentic Black Arts info and a wicked sense of humour, this will dazzle devoted disciples of darkness. Contributors include actor Christopher Lee and Satanist Anton LaVey, to serial killer expert Robert Ressler and necrophile Karen Greenlee.
“About the Author: Gavin Baddeley is an ordained Reverend in the Church of Satan, and an experienced journalist who has worked for The Observer and Metal Hammer. He is the occult authority for the BBC and Channel 4, has addressed Cambridge, and has been profiled in The Independent and The London Evening Standard. His previous three books received wide acclaim.
“Dani Filth, singer and lyricist of Cradle Of Filth, is an outspoken figure in the rock world. In addition to numerous TV and journalistic features, he has also starred in the cult British horror film ‘Cradle of Fear’.
“Note: There will be a very special edition of the book, leather bound and with a ‘bonus’ to be announced that will only be available via Cradle Of Filth ‘s official website.” The Cradle Of Filth site

Check out this awesome interview with Robb Flynn courtesy of Planet Loud. “Planet Loud- Hey Robb, what have you been up too, how is life treating you? What is happening in the Machine Head camp at the moment? Machine Head – Great, we have got the DVD coming out on September 28th . We just started writing for the new album last week and we are set to go into the studio in March and will hopefully have the album out in July. Planet Loud – You mentioned the DVD, this was filmed at Brixton, as was your live album. Why Brixton again, what makes that special? Machine Head – Production value, it’s definately big enough to have our PA and our lights and you can’t really have pyro in America anymore especially in a House Of Blues size venue which is the size venue we usually headline. So we did it there, it’s very grand looking. We recorded a lot of the shows on the tour and it’s intercut with footage of us being on the road on the whole tour. So it’s the concert footage mixed in with footage of us being drunken retards. The thing I think is the coolest thing about it is it’s got 3 videos and 3 Making Of.. the videos and a thing called Behind The Album which is about the making of Through The Ashes, the recording session basically picking up where Supercharger left off, 9/11, the band being labeless for 2 years and us writing as a 3 piece right up to the album coming out.” CLICK HERE to read the whole thing.
According to the OFFICIAL EVERY TIME I DIE website, the band have a DVD in the pipeline, and are surrently in the process of filming. “Our man DOUG SPINESHANK from HIGH ROLLER STUDIOS is out on tour with us filming for our upcoming dvd for the next week. He’s only been here one day and we already have enough footage to make sure our roadie durst can never be president.” ETID – GUTTER PHENOMENON – OUT NOW

Opeth Mainman Mikael Akerfeldt pays tribute to Denis ‘Piggy’ D’Amour and reveals the birth of Opeth. Had it not been for VOIVOD’s landmark 1988 album ‘Dimension Hatrí_ss’, OPETH would not have been formed. “I listened to that album every day on my way to school for a month and a half,” says Mikael íäó_kerfeldt in the latest issue of the Swedish magazine Close-Up. “It was like Piggy totally created his own chords, disharmonic stuff that no one else did back then. For me, a major part of the band’s appeal was, ‘How is he able to make it sound so disharmonic and crazy?’ That’s something I wanted to pick out [on the guitar] myself. In essence, it’s basically the ‘devil’s interval,’ the chord Black Sabbath used in the song ‘Black Sabbath’. You play those three tones together in ONE chord and get the VOIVOD feeling. It should be played rhythmically as well. “There have never been any other bands that have sounded like VOIVOD, not even today,” continues íäó_kerfeldt. “Many bands cite VOIVOD as a huge influence, but none have really been able to bring it into their own music. However, I would imagine that groups like NEUROSIS probably have listened to VOIVOD quite a lot.” OPETH – GHOST REVERIES – OUT NOW
Wednesday 13 will follow up their killer video for ‘I Walked With A Zombie’ with a clip for ‘Bad Things’. W13 revealed, “We just returned from the Australia/Japan tours which were completely insane. Thanks to all the fans for your undying support and we’ll see you again very soon. Things are better than ever in the 13 camp now, mentally and physically. New management is now in place and we are getting ideas and plans sorted for 2006 as I speak. The editing for the video ‘Bad Things’ should be completed by the end of the week. The clip will contain compiled live and backstage footage from all over the world from the past year. We are capturing a year’s worth of footage in three and half minutes, so it should be interesting.”
