3 INCHES TOUR DIARY pt6

Orc slaying legends, 3 Inches Of Blood have just finished touring with Himsa in the UK. We managed to catch up with the band to get a quick update on the tour so far.

13/12/05 – London @ The Underworld This was the last of the UK shows for us and Himsa, and what an epic ending it was! We left Manchester early on the 13th and arrived in London just before 2:00 pm for some interviews. I was scheduled for interviews later in the afternoon, so I wandered throughout Camden (spelling?) for a while which was awesome! Next time I’ll have money to spend, ha ha. It was great meeting up with Kirsten and Chris from the Roadrunner base, getting to beverage with them and many of our british metal comrades, and recognizing faces from last time we were in London during the Roadrage tour. The Underworld is a great venue all around, and it is also located in a great part of town. So Himsa were fucking great of course, tore the place apart! When we hit the stage, we got a very uplifting metal greeting from the die hards, and I saw many horns in the air. The show was awesome, and we all had a great time. Some of us went to the Crowbar afterwards for some late drinking, and my complements to this maniac who did nothing but headbang to everything in the jukebox in the last hours of the night, running into people and attempting cartwheels. This guy was a barbarian! So to conclude my journal entry, the show kicked so much ass and everyone there were amazing. We hope to come back soon to take care of business again, and next time we’ll be bringing some new tunes with us. But until then, thanks to all of you for attending our shows throughout the UK and we will see you all sooner than later. Fucking Oath!! Hagberg – 3IOB 3IOB’s latest tales of their spoils Advance & Vanquish is out now.

12/12/05 – Manchester @ Jilly’s Rockworld New venue for us. Last time in Manchester was one of the best gigs of the tour. I could tell soon after the doors opened that it was gonna be another killer show. Saw some faces from last time and met some new ones. Both opening bands were actually pretty damn good. I don’t remember their names though, sorry blame it on the beers. The show went great as I had hoped and the crowd went nuts for Himsa, making us nervous since we played after them on this night. Big stage and a big crowd made for lots of frantic movement during the course of the entire show. Fun was had by all. Manchester is an excellent city to come to so we’ll be back Cam Pipes – 3IOB 3IOB’s most recent sacrifice Advance & Vanquish is out now.

11/12/05 – Leeds @ The Cockpit The drive from Aberdeen was quite long but arrived in Leeds early afternoon for press stuff. Went to the Corn Exchange and shot some photos at a comic and game shop. Got the chance to mess around with some D&D miniatures then drank coffee at the mall. We had played at The Cockpit earlier this year and had a great show so I was anticipating another great gig this time around. There was a bit of mucking around early in the show with some equipment problems and things were running behind. As a result the promoter asked us to cut our set short. I said that’s not gonna happen, but we played our full set quickly so that the crowd weould be able to catch all of Himsa before the last train. The Leeds crowd didn’t disappoint and we raged and sweat ourselves like crazy. Afterwards there was lots more drinking to do and it lasted, for me personally until the wee hours of the morning. Cam Pipes – 3IOB Advance & Vanquish, 3IOB’s latest offering to the Gods of war, is out now.

10/12/05 – ABERDEEN, Moshulu Hey everybody! This is my first tourbook entry ever so put on your fuckin seatbelt! First up- I got up at 4:30 in the morning instead of 6:30 because of my roomate insisted it was the right time. I won’t say who it was ( hint- Falsetto vocals ) so, murder was on my mind early on in the day. The drive was long to Aberdeen but we broke it up with a best-of Russ Meyer DVD that was spectacular! Nothing better to calm your nerves than a whole lot ‘a’ jigglin! The venue was quaint to say the least, but the locals and folks who traveled far to get there were awesome to hang with. Us and our bro’s in the mighty Himsa hoisted many a pint as per usual, well…… Kirby and Josh did, and there was some “DJ” blasting crap out of his CD player. Way to clear the room pal. By the time we went on the place was packed with kids going crazy and it was probably the hottest, wettest show since the Deadly Sinners video shoot. All in all a fun show in a place we’ve never been before. This whole tour has been awsome too by the way, and thanks to everyone who’s come out and partied with us. I guess thats it, so stay cool and remember to set your watch! ( I just won’t let that go will I? ) Shane Clark – 3IOB

09/12/05 Norwich, UK – The Ferry Boat After an incredibly annoying drive made worse by watching some ridiculous piece of cinematic bullshit, í¢ä‰åñStraw Dogs” we arrived at the Ferry Boat. A tiny venue decorated in dingy sailor motif. Complete with anchors, rope, and netting…AHOY! By tiny I mean I actually had to keep my head down to get across the stage and the show floor. The show stared out as a bit of a cluster fuck in that the opening bands were late and consequently the sound guy was a little angry. Once the show was under way things were as they always are…smokey, friends sharing beers and loud conversations, amatuer DJ’s doing their best on the jukebox and in the distance a band trying to motivate their friends to “move it”. I tried to watch Himsa, but when I made it back into the showroom (with beams level with my forehead) the room was so packed and I could barely make out the banging heads on stage through the bobbing heads in the crowd…it was packed! After Himsa crushed everyone the disorder returns when one of the tardy openers finally shows and starts to set up. Everyone was under the impression that 3 Inches was next and there was a bit of confusion, but hey…more time for beers, right? We were told they were only playing for 15 minutes and a little over a half of an hour later they finished playing…that’s hardcore for ya. When we got to the stage it was quite the opposite of Newport. The place was packed like a can of sardines and hot as a Georgia summer. We carefully arranged ourselves on the stage between the random poles, low beam and searing lights. Our guitars were instantly covered in sweat due to the humidity of the room. Once we started the room was on fire! Sweat was flying everywhere, from our heads to the crowd, from the crowd to us and it streamed down the walls as the army of metal maniacs raged on. When we stopped to tune or try to catch our breath the crowd was very vocal in their enthusiasm and I recall at least one man with a sword. We pushed on violently through the suffocating heat with smiles on our faces all wondering if we were gonna pass out or puke. Luckily none of these things happened (on stage) we made to Deadly Sinners at top speed and throttled up to end the night with everything we had left. The show is over, the crowd wanted more, steam is now rushing in through an open door…what a show. You have gotta love the small shows for times like this…it is something you can’t get anywhere else.

Laters,

BRIAN – 3IOB
