THE DRESDEN DOLLS

Posted on February 12, 2008

Bostonian duo The Dresden Dolls are set to release the follow-up to their self-titled debut album, ‘Yes, Virginiaí¢ä‰åŒ_’ on April 17th on Roadrunner Records. The album release will be followed by a UK tour in May. Rock bands are pigeonholed into ever-increasingly minuscule sub-categorizations, but The Dresden Dolls continue to defy explanation and classification.퉌æ While some have called it theatrical rock, punk cabaret, manic-musical, neo-glam-torch, eventually even the most clever and creative describers shrug and say: í¢ä‰åñYou just have to hear it to believe it.í¢ä‰åŒ CLICK HERE to download “Girl Anachronism”, taken from their debut self-titled album.

The forthcoming album “REST INSIDE THE FLAMES” is out this June. ——- STUDIO SHOT 1 STUDIO SHOT 2 STUDIO SHOT 3 ——- The mixing phase is coming to a close and Andy has done it again, this shit sounds amazing. There is still some tweaks left to do and then mastering and this thing will be rock ready. The album cover is coming together and tours are in the works, so as soon as we have anything concrete I shall let you all know. Ive had a blast consuming myself in and making this record over the last 7 months and cant wait to share it with you all. We have a show in Portland on the 24th of February at Rock N Roll Pizza with a gaggle of good bands to rock out some of the new material, if your in the area head down for beers and metal. Full day of flying tomorrow, Oh Boy! – HOLT

TOUR DIARY UPDATE

Posted on February 12, 2008

Daniel Adair has posted the following diary update on the bands US site. Well, here we are back on the road again! I forgot that this is actually like work, well, sort of! Prince George was a great start to the tour, what a great crowd. The fans on every stop of this tour have blown me away, what a joy it is to perform for all of you, you’re out of control! Some of those first nights were as new to us as to the fans, we’re really starting to get in the groove and everybody seems to be enjoying the new show. Vancouver in particular was a special show for me, it was a dream come true to come to my home town and play a sold out GM Place. Edmonton and Calgary a blast also. Lots of family backstage, I can’t even remember all the relatives I met! I have to say that I was nervous for the first time at the beer chugging competition last night, Peake’s brother Jason is fast, and Red Dawg from CJ 92 has a huge rep for beer consumption, but alas, I won again, wow would Mom be proud! Our crew is doing a great job out here, it’s amazing how they set up and tear down six trailers worth of gear everyday. Although the flu is hanging around all of us, I think I haven’t got it because of the beer consumption, could this really be? See you guys out there and thanks for all of the support – Daniel

A ROSE ON DUST

Posted on February 12, 2008

Check out this interview taken from Temple News with drummer Morgan Rose of Sevendust. On completing their latest album, “Next”, after going through some rough times both financially and musically: “I’m pretty amazed we actually pulled it off. I mean, since we had no label, no funding and had been ripped off so bad for so long . we had to go to the bank and literally put our houses on the line with children at home and make that gamble. “I remember signing my name on the first form for $100,000 and saying ‘Man I am responsible for a chunk of this money, and I don’t have it, so I hope someone likes this record.'” On the departure of longtime guitarist Clint Lowery: “Clint is a great songwriter and he added an element to our band without a doubt, but we were a band before he was in it. We knew that we could easily put a record together, so that wasn’t the issue. The issue was how much material we would be able to write and how much would we have to choose from.” “[Lowery] tended to be kind of a stickler and would over analyze a lot and now we were able to let the songs breathe a little bit.” On Lowery’s replacement, Sonny Mayo: “He’s the easiest guy in the world to deal with, so that makes it real simple. We have known him since our first record, so we were able to build camaraderie.” On the band’s current tour: “[This tour is] better than any we have ever had. I don’t understand why people keep coming out like this. . I mean, the loyalty is just outrageous. We are not getting any MTV at all, and these kids keep coming out. “We’re actually playing stuff off the first record and stuff that went off the other records that we haven’t played in years. It’s a pretty cool stage setup and it’s something we have never done. The rest is going to have to be a surprise.” For the entire interview

A DARK SHADOW FALLS

Posted on February 12, 2008

Roadrunner Records is very proud to announce the signing of Massachusetts-based five-piece, SHADOWS FALL for all territories, excluding the US. Mark Palmer, M.D. of Roadrunner Records U.K. stated: í¢ä‰åñShadows Fall have been one of the standard-bearers for quality American Metal for the past 4 years and it’s an honour to have them as part of the Roadrunner family.í¢ä‰åŒ Likewise, SHADOWS FALL frontman Brian Fair was equally enthused by their new home. Speaking from home, where the band are working on songs for their fifth studio album, he commented “All of us in Shadows Fall are very excited to begin a working relationship with Roadrunner Records! The label has always represented the multiple sounds and styles of the metal genre and they have never been afraid to take a chance and support bands they believed in. From the roots of extreme metal with Obituary, Deicide and Exhorder to the breakout success of bands like Slipknot and Killswitch Engage, Roadrunner has always been at the fore-front of the evolution of metal. We feel it will be a perfect fit to help spread the word about Shadows Fall around the globe. The time has come for total world domination.” After forming in 1996, SHADOWS FALL have developed in to one of the metal scene’s key players, both live and on CD. With four increasingly proficient albums under their belt, culminating in the 2004 release of ‘The War Within’, the band have picked up numerous accolades from global rock publications and media. Underlining that, the band were honoured in this year’s 48th Annual Grammy Awards in the US, with a nomination alongside metal heavyweights like Slipknot, Ministry and Rammstein, for their album track, ‘What Drives The Weak’. SHADOWS FALL spent much of 2004 on the road, racking up major dates across the US on Ozzfest, in the UK at the Download Festival and in Germany at Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park as well as a string of arena shows with Slipknot and Lamb of God. They are now back home working on the follow up to ‘The War Within’ which is expected to see the light of day in early 2007 through new label, Roadrunner Records. Roadrunner Records is excited to add a major band such as SHADOWS FALL to their stable of ground-breaking metal artists and are ready to take them to the next level. Look out for more SHADOWS FALL news soon.
