MATE. FEED. KILL. UNLIKELY TO BE REPEATED

Posted on February 12, 2008

As reported by MTV.COM, a copy of Slipknot’s self-released 1996 demo album, Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat., has fetched more than $627 in an eBay auction. The demo is considered the rarest and most sought-after piece of ‘Knot memorabilia, as only 1,000 copies of the disc were ever pressed and released. In related news, Slipknot affiliates Stone Sour are in the midst of recording the follow-up to their 2002 self-titled LP, but that hasn’t stopped them from making lineup changes. Last week drummer Joel Ekman was released from duty – a decision “we all discussed and feel is best for the five of us and for the future of Stone Sour,” according to a press release. The band’s forthcoming disc, Come What May, will hit stores this summer. Slipknot’s Grammy winning “Before I Forget” is of course the opening track on the upcoming MTV2 Headbangers Ball: The Revenge compilation

SAVE OURSELVES

Posted on February 12, 2008

Chimaira frontman Mark Hunter has revealed details on the filming of their newest video. Shot during their headlining performance at The Icon in Buffalo, New York last Thursday night (March 23). A BLABBERMOUTH.NET visitor by the name of Chris Frerotte, who attended last night’s show, had previously stated in an e-mail that “after the band finished their set, they said they were now going to film the crowd going nuts and the band playing for their new music video ‘Save Ourselves’. The band then played ‘Save Ourselves’ for the second time of the night and some fat guy with a huge mullet was on stage filming it.” Commented Hunter: “We ‘sort of’ shot a video. A good friend of ours, Jason Haitkin, came out on tour with us for the past week and filmed a bunch of footage. I had an idea for a video that was something different and ‘fun.’ If it turns out too silly, then we will use it for our website. Not sure what we are going to do with it yet. We will have to wait until the edit. And it is true that he is a bit hefty, but the mullet was a wig!” Courtesy Of Blabbermouth

STONE SOUR PART WAYS WITH DRUMMER

Posted on February 12, 2008

Stone Sour have unfortunately parted ways with original drummer Joel Ekman – here’s the official statement from the band: “Things are going really well in the studio and we’ll have a more in-depth update next week, but for now, we wanted to let you know about a change in the band. Sadly Joel Ekman, Stone Sour’s original drummer, is no longer going to be part of the band. This is something that we all discussed and feel is best for the five of us and for the future of Stone Sour. This has been the most intense recording process of our career and the next year of touring will be equally, if not more, intense. Our world tour kicks off June 2nd in Germany and our goal is to play as many cities and countries as possible. We ‘re in discussions with a few drummers now and will let you know who that person will be as soon as we come to a decision. We wish the best to Joel and to his family.” Stone Sour
