MIX IT UP

Posted on February 12, 2008

It’s been a busy time for Trivium of late firstly their fantastic appearence at the Download Festival last weekend, and then taking home no less than 3 (!!!) Golden Gods at Monday’s Metal Hammer Awards. But it’s back to work now on their new opus ‘The Crusade‘, and Paolo has dropped by to let us all know how it’s going. “Paolo here, just giving you an update before we head out early tomorrow for tour. We have finished tracking all of ‘The Crusade’, 15 songs total. Mixing has already begun and should be done in the next few weeks! We are incredibly excited with what we have accomplished in the studio. “This goes out to all our friends in Australia and New Zealand who have been patiently waiting for us to come down and play shows for you. Thank you for all the messages you have sent to us, we get hundreds and hundreds a week. There is a good chance we will be down in early 2007, once we confirm them we will let you know! We aren’t a band that likes to play a few shows, we will make sure we hit both coasts and play as many shows as we can. Thanks for spreading the word about us!!!! See you soon!!”

A TOUCH OF DETH

Posted on February 12, 2008

Glen Drover from Megadeth recently checked in from the studio to give us all a quick update on how the brand new eagerly anticipated Megadeth album is coming along. “I have been working hard on getting myself in shape for the upcoming solo fest on the new album. Things are going very well! Dave [Mustaine] is now recording his rhythm guitar tracks in L.A., so it should be a few more weeks before I start my process.” The production duties on MEGADETH’s as-yet-untitled Roadrunner Records debut are being handled by Mustaine and co-producer Jeff Balding. The initial studio sessions held at Sarm Studios, outside of London were filmed by director Michael Sarna (ANTHRAX, OBITUARY) and are available at Megadeth.com to fan-club members.

NICKEL-KEYNES

Posted on February 12, 2008

The brilliant street teamer Jo Shields has sent us her review of Nickelback at the recent Milton Keynes shows. Milton Keynes certainly had their share of hot weather over the weekend, undoubtedly the presence of Canadian rock band Nickelback helped rise the temperatures of the 45000 crowd that swarmed the Milton Keynes National Bowl over the weekend. Chad Kroeger Ryan Peake, Daniel Adair and Mike Kroeger were on the last leg of supporting Bon Jovi on their “Have A Nice Day” world tour, and it goes without saying this was one of the best live performances I had seen from them. Kicking off with “Animals” from the album “All The Right Reasons” and a good mixture of songs from their multi platinum albums “Silver side up” and “The Long Road” Chad Kroeger can hold an audience in the palm of his hand, Cheeky banners being held up from the ladies in the golden circle one in particular spelling out “Chad we want to see your package” Chad obliged by producing a small box that was thrown to him from the side of the stage from one of the crew with the words “Chad Package” written on it which got the crowds roar of approval. Another added attraction to the hour long set was the guitar solo which accompanied the crew firing off Nickelback T-shirts far into the crowd from a cannon on the stage, such a sight to see masses of swarming arms trying their best to catch the rolled up shirts which made brilliant cannon ammunition. One particular moment that stands out in my mind where Chad announced the next song as “one for the ladies”, the acoustic sound from the single “Far Away” filled the arena as the evening sun was just beginning to set over the sun kissed crowd, it couldn’t have been timed any better. It was the total flawless performance from Nickelback that impressed the fans that had come to see Bon Jovi, and to hear the crowd singing in unison to their final song that started it all off for them in the UK “How You Remind Me” was a masterpiece in itself, thanking for the applauding crowd for their support, they left the stage to make way for the main act Bon Jovi. With Nickelback’s latest UK release “Savin Me” sitting pretty in the UK rock singles chart at number 2, It is safe to say Nickelback have proved they plan to be and will be around for a long time yet, They are so appreciative of their fans too, watching them signing autographs, posing for photographs just shows how down to earth they are and they take nothing for granted!!
