After Killswitch Engage‘s guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz sustained a serious back injury last weekend, the guys were forced to postpone the London, Bristol and Paris shows, the band have issued the following update: “OK, here’s the deal. Adam and Howard [Jones, vocals] were sick and wanted to do the Brixton show [in London]. Once they got to the club, both got to see the local physician. After both seeing the doc the prognosis was Howard had a chest infection. Adam, however, was doing much much worse. No way he could do the show, and he was immediately ushered to a nearby hospital. After a series of test, it was decided that Adam would need back surgery again í¢äåäó no more shows, no flying home first, no exceptions. “We are pleased to report that he has just left surgery, is doing fine and resting comfortably. Adam and the band appreciate all the messages and concern that everyone has shown. “Concerning the rest of the tour, it will continue with Pete Wichers (ex-SOILWORK) filling in for Adam on guitar. Adam will be missed, but he wants the tour to go on more than the rest of the band so we will try to miss as few shows as possible, and make up as many as we can.” SOURCE: BLABBERMOUTH

Congratulations go out to MACHINE HEAD frontman Robert Flynn and his wife Genevra on the birth of their second son. Wyatt Lee Flynn was born Sunday, January 14 at 4:10 a.m., weighing in at 8 lbs. 12 oz. and measuring 20 3/4″ tall. The couple also have a two-year-old son, Zander. Machine Head‘s forthcoming album ‘The Blackening‘ is bookmarked for a March release and you can see the cover art here: Flynn has previously told The Gauntlet about the artwork, “It’s a metal carving from the 1500s. Back then they used a lot of crude metal carving images? almost as propaganda. It was kind of like scaring people about going to hell or whatever. A lot of it had to do with devils and death and stuff like that. They were eventually banned for a while. “The cover right now is like a skeleton sitting on a throne with his foot on top of the world and he’s holding up a mirror and the mirror says ‘The mirror which flatters not.’ “The reason we chose that image is that this whole record is like holding up a mirror to ourselves. It’s talking about things that are going on now, but it’s not necessarily specific to this time. “There are two songs that have a pretty strong anti-war sentiment, but it’s not the type of thing that’s just about this war, you know what I mean? It’s not necessarily a concept record in that sense, because the songs don’t all tie together thematically. There isn’t a story being told. I probably would have lost my mind if I would have had to tie all the lyrics together (laughs). It is about holding up a mirror to society.” The final track list appears as follows. 01. Clenching the Fists of Dissent 02. Beautiful Mourning 03. Aesthetics of Hate 04. Now I Lay Thee Down 05. Slanderous 06. Halo 07. Wolves 08. A Farewell to Arms The Machine Head site
For Guitar World’s series Killswitch Engage‘s Adam Dutkiewicz and Joel Stroetzel have recently taped a video lesson of the current single, “My Curse,” and you can watch it in its entirety on the Roadrunner YouTube Channel. Also on our YouTube Channel, there is a ton of RR and user generated clips of all kinds: musical, comical, improbable – sometimes all at once.
MEGADETH‘s new album draws near and Dave Mustaine has offered insight to his feelings: “Let me first say that I have had the most enjoyable experience with Andy Sneap here finishing the record I can’t remember when I had such a pleasant time making a record. It is fast, heavy, melodic, and, of course, controversial, as well as hooky with some unexpected twists. Thanks to all of the engineers on this record Lance, Jeff, Kieran, Ken, Chase, Andy, and whoever I may have forgotten. Thanks to the co-producers Jeff and Andy, and the studios Sarn Hook End, the Steak House, Big Fish, and Backstage Productions. “And then there is my partner Glen Drover [guitar], who is without a doubt going to make many people forget some, if not all of the previous guitarists. Of course I know there are people who love the past and choose to live in it. I do not. “I hear my bassist James Lomenzo and my drummer Shawn Drover playing and it puts a smile on the inside of me for the first time in years. We all can smile on the outside, but the project has satisfied me, and I am completely content deep inside. “I am getting ready to play the last two solos on this record. At that point it will be up to the powers that be to see if we have delivered another masterpiece to you, or if I go get corn rows, and start lip-synching.? ‘United Abominations’ will feature tracks such as: *Sleepwalker *United Abominations *Burnt Ice *Never Walk Alone *Amerikhastan The Megadeth site
