Nickleback will donate 100% of the proceeds from digital sales of their new single and video

Posted on February 12, 2008

Nickelback, one of the world's biggest selling rock bands, will donate 100% of the proceeds from digital sales of their new single and video “If Everyone Cared” to charity in the US. Donations will be made to Amnesty International and International Children's Awareness Canada, a charity guitarist Ryan Peake has supported for several years. Nickelback, Roadrunner Records, WEA Corp. and Warner/Chappell Music will donate all proceeds from sales of the digital single and video beginning February 1, 2007.

Nickelback's video for “If Everyone Cared” was directed by newcomer Dori Oskowitz, filmed at Armoury Studios in Vancouver, British Columbia. The video illuminates the profound impact made when one individual incites change for the betterment of the world. Inter-cut between an intimate Nickelback performance and historical images, the video tells the stories of four ordinary people who have done extraordinary things for humanity: Bob Geldolf (Live Aid), Nelson Mandela, Peter Benenson (founder of Amnesty International) and Betty Williams (World Centers of Compassion for Children International).

Nickelback's success has thankfully afforded us the opportunity as a band to make a significant contribution to the organization my wife and I have supported for years, International Children's Awareness Canada,” comments guitarist Ryan Peake. “Now, with the release of “If Everyone Cared,” a song and video that carries a message of positive change, we can globalize our efforts with Amnesty International. The idea is simply to do something that moves you and helps others, no matter how small. “

If Everyone Cared” is the sixth single to be released from the five times platinum album All The Right Reasons. Released in October 2005, the album boasts the number one hit singles “Photograph,” “Animals,” “Savin' Me,” “Rockstar” and “Far Away.” “Number One” has been a common phrase in Nickelback's career, beginning with the No. 1 debut on Billboard Magazine's Top 200 Albums Chart. After over a year on that chart, the album is still in the Top 10. Each of the three number one pop radio tracks also went to No. 1 on Vh1's Top 20 Video Countdown. The video for “If Everyone Cared” has been added to MTV and MTVu, and currently holds the #1 spot at Vh-1.

Recently the band has been recognized with a plethora of awards and nominations. On November 15th Nickelback was named the World's Best Rock Band at the World Music Awards and on November 10th the band won the Breakthrough Artist Award at the Billboard Touring Awards. Additionally, the band won three awards at the Billboard Music Awards, including Rock Album of the Year, one American Music Award for Best Duo/Group and won a People's Choice Award for Favorite Group.
