Kerrang! and KRock Radio presenter Ian Camfield was recently fortun ate enough to get a sneak preview of the new TRIVIUM album SHOGUN (due to hit stores SEPTEMBER 29TH) and a recent post on his KRock blog would suggest that he was mightliy impressed…

So let me tell you, what I heard was great! There is some shredding stuff on this CD. And there’s a lot more screaming. Matt Heafy sings too, and there are moments where the full throttle nature lets up, but if you thought The Crusade missed some of the ferocity of Ascendancy, it’s back on this new album. Only the song writing and musicianship is above and beyond anything the band have done so far. And while Trivium still proudly wear their influence on their sleeves (or their albums), what I heard will silence critics who considered The Crusade to be a Metallica facsimile…

It was an awesome first show, and I couldn’t have wished for a better performance from all of us. With the show done and dusted, we all head for the after-show, where there was much consumption of beverages and buffoonery. I didn’t see my tech Stuart there; for some reason apparently someone took him out the night before and forced booze on him all night, transforming him from his usual calm self into the full-on karaoke queen that he really is!

MADINA LAKE finish their stint on the US Warped tour today so that they can head off back to Chicago and continue work on their follow up to last years ‘From Them, Through Us, To You’. “it’s about a guy who plays guitar and wants to move to the west coast. the filming started in springfield, ma and they took a week and drove across the country filming their experience’s along the way. it’s kind of like a reality video and it came out really cool!!”
