Two short clips of Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison rehearsing with Korn in preperation for their upcoming tours (including the Download Festival) have been posted online at YouTube:
Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine issued the following update on their official website:
“There is a lot to talk about, but nothing more important than this:
“This is a night I have been hoping for, for many years now; the night before a 'fierce new MEGADETH release.'
“I want to tell you all how much I love you and how many times I have felt like I was going to explode in anticipation just watching you hear 'United Abominations' for the first time.
“It's no secret how much we care about each other here at Megadeth.com and Myspace/Megadeth and I wish I could be there with you, hanging out, to share the moment and chat with you, and hear your excitement when you are done experiencing 'U.A.' for the first time.
“But I have a secret for you . . . it is going to get better every time you listen to it.
“I want you to know we thought of every one of you, each time we sang, and we thought of each one of you, each time we played. We were so excited about you hearing this, because WE like it. And that is a kewl thing.
“Your love for MEGS has fired me up to make a record that I love, beyond just about anything I have ever done.
“I would like to say a lil' prayer that each one of you would know how much I love you and appreciate your support . . . even the assholes.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Peter Lindgren has stepped down from his guitar wielding duties after 16 years in Opeth. Below is an open letter from Peter addressing the issue:
“It is with sadness I announce that Opeth and I are going separate ways after almost 16 years. The decision has been the toughest I've ever made but it is the right one to make at this point in my life.
The reason behind this is that I feel that I simply have lost some of the enthusiasm and inspiration needed to participate in a band that has grown from a few guys playing the music we love to a world-wide industry. The love of music has always been, and still is, our motive, but I personally have lost something along the way. The massive amount of touring has taken its toll. Opeth has worked extremely hard to get where we are right now and in order to persist and maintain the quality of the music, it is necessary that we continue to work hard and always stay focused. But in doing so, it means that we nowadays spend 18 or 19 months on the road and I don't feel the same enthusiasm for the upcoming world tour that I have felt earlier. I have come to a point where I realize I won't be able to give the band 100% and from both sides this will not be good enough for what Opeth stands for. I will always love playing, listening to and living music, but I will do it differently from now on.
These years have easily been the best of my life and I will always cherish the memory of what we have experienced together. I would like to thank the band, our management, record label people, all the bands I've made friends with for everything. Most of all, I would like to thank the fans from the depth of my heart for the support throughout the years. I wish Mikael, Martin, Per and Axe all the best and I am confident they will continue doing the greatest music in the world!! – Peter”

Within Temptation’s Sharon den Adel was recently interviewed by Live-Metal.net. She talks about touring in the U.S. on the the “Hottest Chicks in Metal Tour”, the band's new album, “The Heart of Everything” and comparisons to EVANESCENCE in the U.S. A few excerpts follow:
Live-Metal.net: Now that you're coming over to the U.S., are you worried about inevitable EVANESCENCE comparisons?
Sharon: In every country we get comparisons. Not only with EVANESCENCE, but with LACUNA COIL when we're in Italy, NIGHTWISH when we're in Finland, and they get compared when they come to our side of Europe. It's inevitable, although I think the bands are all very different. They sound all so different. That's what I like about this genre of music. You can't even call it a genre because the bands are so different from each other. It's sort of like the time you had the grunge period — like NIRVANA, ALICE IN CHAINS, PEARL JAM, and they said it all sounds the same, but looking back on it they're so different. They're so special in their own way and that's the same thing [here] I think. Although, of course, those are major bands, but it's just a comparison.
Live-Metal.net: How have the first few shows gone on the Hottest Chicks of Metal Tour?
Sharon: They've been going very well, I must say. I was really surprised so many people knew our music and were singing the lyrics sometimes and all. And we didn't expect anything actually because we didn't know that there were people here already that knew us. But MySpace is so big here in America, and, also, we have got a MySpace, so probably a lot of people got into contact with each other that already knew us. It was really nice to see them travel. A lot of people came from far to see us — of course, not only us but the other bands playing. But people also came especially for us, which is really nice.
Live-Metal.net: Now this your first official U.S. tour?
Sharon: Yeah. It's more like an introduction tour, I think, because we are playing 40 minutes and our album is not released yet. It's going to be released the 24th of July, so I think it's more an introduction tour. That's how I see it.
Live-Metal.net: So how exactly did you get involved with the tour?
Sharon: I know that Roadrunner wanted to send us on tour to America and LACUNA COIL was searching for support acts, and somewhere they met each other. I think it's something that really fits together. And also all the bands are really nice, really good bands. It's a really nice package, I think. All bands got really good reaction, so that's a really good sign, I think.
Live-Metal.net: Did you have any reservations in taking part in a tour promoting the hottest chicks in metal?
Sharon: I didn't know that it was called by that. We are on the plane over here and “By the way, what is the Hottest Chicks Of Metal Tour?” “That's the tour we're on.” “Uh …. OK.” [laughter] They never told me what they called it, so it was a little like, “Umm … OK.” Whatever they want to call it, I guess.

Blabbermouth reports Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine was recently interviewed bu the BostonHerald.com. Check out some excerpts below:
On the fact that he's waged high-profile verbal warfare with a who's who of heavy metal, including members of METALLICA, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, PANTERA and SLAYER:
“It isn't neccessarily always comfortable, but it's a right I have as an American to say what I think.”
On his bizarre arm injury in 2002 that left Mustaine unable to play guitar:
“Having my arm get injured and coming back through the therapy was exciting for me. When I couldn't play guitar, I was like 'What do I do?' It was difficult.”
On his latest CD, “United Abominations“, an anti-war opus that builds on the politically tinged metal of 'DETH classics “Peace Sells . . . But Who's Buying?” and “Countdown to Extinction“:
“A lot of the ideas came from the news, surfing between CNN and Fox. We can make a difference. We totally can, by being a voice for a generation and encouraging (fans) to be a part of the solution, not part of the problem.
“It's really easy to go around with bumper stickers and slogans, but what are you really doing? What are you doing to make things better?”
On the recently fired radio shock jock Don Imus:
“You can't make statements like that when you're an announcer. What (Imus) said was just mean-spirited. The bottom line is, if you treat people the way they want to be treated, we wouldn't be dealing with this stuff.”
On being considered one of metal's true pioneers:
“As I go out there and play, there's a period where I can almost detach myself from what I'm doing and look around the audience and see how people are doing. When I see how they're smiling and getting off, that excites me.”

Trivium’s Corey checks in from the road:
Hey everyone:
Checking in from Europe again! We've got a day off today so I felt like unloading some info on ya of what has been going on lately.
After the crazy Ireland & UK tour we ventured into mainland Europe for the first time headlining and so far it's been fantastic.
All the shows have been rocking with some really memorable ones Berlin, Warsaw, Stockholm,Paris (hottest show ever!) and I'm sure the upcoming shows will not dissapoint too!
Besides the shows all of guys in all the bands have been getting together to have some fun parties on this tour. In Hertford, Germany during the “metal” night at the club Jared (Sanctity) and myself proceded to get shitfaced and headbang and mosh with everyone in the club.
Then in Helsinki myself and Alexi from Children of Bodom got up on stage and rocked out with Annihilator to “King Of The Kill” (that was a blast).
The bus rides have been fun too since Sanctity have found a way to break their ice cream truck touring van, AGAIN!
So they've been joining us on the Trivium bus (we can't get rid of them!) so drinks have been flying. In Poland the roads aren't very smooth so after drinking a lot of vodka it was a challenge to play “first person to spill there drink gets punched” – Jared spilt about 10 seconds after the game started ha ha.
In Gothenburg, Sweden we meet up wtih some old touring friends Bjorn and Peter from In Flames and Sharlee from Arch Enemy and hung around on the bus having some drinks and shooting the shit just like old times ha ha.
The Annihilator guys are quite the bunch and for some reason at a certain point in the night they feel the urge to get naked and run around streaking, and it's not the best feeling when you turn around and see 5 naked Canadians running at you that shit is scary eh!
Alright well thats all i got for now, take care and see you at the shows!
