“The money from this show is going right back to my family and friends… I’m gonna buy my parents a house…. a house of COCAINE!” Last night, the Murderdolls took over London burlesque club Madam Jo Jos for a special one hour set at midnight for just 180 people. As well as some red & black attired Murderdolls fans, glamorous transvestites, Soil’s Shaun Glass & Tim King, Prodigy/Flint’s Keith Flint, and Casey Chaos from Amen were in attendance! The “dolls” were certainly on top form… all fetchingly dressed in full drag. Wednesday was sporting a bright pink wig with mirrored shades, a nurses red cross arm cuff, cap, a thigh-high split leather skirt and some rather shredded white tights… which he actually found in the gutter outside his hotel that morning! Why he was in the gutter in the first place, we didn’t ask. If he washed those tights before he wore them, we also didn’t ask. Eric was clad in a tight-fitting black minidress, blonde bombshell wig, and knee high boots, completing the look with fishnets and suspenders. He was later heard after the show, distraught he’d broken his suspender belt. Ben, aka The Ghoul, made his own outfit, creating a white dress with ‘SLUT’ emblazoned across the chest, and a voluminous blue wig – complete with sparkly bits. By the end of the set, the dress was long gone, and Ghoul left the stage clad only in stockings and a PVC thong. Acey dressed to kill in a snug leopard print miniskirt, showing off his legs with co-ordinating red leopard print tights, and a stunning turquoise blue wig. Last but certainly not least, Joey became a glamorous long-haired redhead for the night taking the stage in a teeny green minidress, and seamed fishnets. The night marked the very first ever live performance of forthcoming Murderdolls single ‘White Wedding’, a cover of Billy Idol’s 80’s classic (out July 14th). Not only that, the band treated the audience to some new material including ‘Murder Pie’, ‘I Take Drugs’, and ‘The Devil Made Me Do It’. And with Wednesday declaring, “We know a bunch of songs by people other than ourselves, and we’re just drunk enough to play them…” the band also launched into an awesome cover of the Misfit’s tune ‘Devil’s Whore House’. The full set list was: Murder Pie Kill Ms. America Die My Bride I Take Drugs Dressed To Depress Twist My Sister Slit My Wrist Love At 1st Fright The Devil Made Me Do It People Hate Me Lets Fuck White Wedding (Billy Idol cover) Devil’s Whore House (Misfits cover) 197666 I Love To Say Fuck Dead In Hollywood Wait til you see our photos…. Murderdolls headline the Metal Hammer Awards in London tonight.
Last Saturday, 31st of May at 10:30 PM Junkie XL astonished the city of Amsterdam by doing an illegal live gig from a canal side house. The actual place was kept a secret until the last minute. As everyone needed to gather at the Noordermarkt the crowd started cheering as the place of the ‘Guerilla Gig’ was actually the Noordermarkt itself right in the old centre of Amsterdam! Almost 5.000 (!) people gathered at the Noordermarkt and the party crowd started dancing as soon as Junkie XL played his first tune from the immense PA which was set up at the canal side house. He used 3 floors from the building to thank Amsterdam for the inspiration the city had given him to writing his new album (Radio JXL Broadcast From The Computer Hell Cabin). After the gig Junkie XL thanked the crowd for being there and stated the following “This gig was a protest to the ongoing palling of the city Amsterdam. We did try to set up a surprise gig with approval of the council of the city of Amsterdam but with the strict political climate nothing seems possible anymore”. It’s 3pm Friday afternoon, the day before Download. Frantic phone calls abound between Chimaira’s tour manager, booking agent, and Roadrunner offices. The band are playing a show tonight in Holland, with an onstage time of 10:30pm. Spineshank, tour bus & travelling companions, to play after. Gear to be loaded out after that. Chimaira are set to play Download at 11:10am Saturday morning. It’s a 12 hour trip from Holland. 6pm, Friday. Options being considered: cancelling the show in Holland, cancelling the appearance at Download, moving stage times, taking plane flights and travelling separately, borrowing equipment, getting a police escort… 6:30pm: The club in Holland moves stage times forward, enabling the bands to depart for England that crucial bit earlier. Everyone breathes a sigh of relief. Saturday. It’s just before 10am, day one of the Download Festival at Donington. Chimaira have arrived safe and sound in good time and are shortly to take to the stage for a 30 minute set in the Scuzz tent. The band are twitchy, worrying that their onstage time of 11:10am means everyone will be asleep in their tents, and noone will have got up to watch them play. 15 minutes before stage time, the band peek into the tent, and note there’s maybe 20 people there. 15 minutes later, there’s several thousand. Mark, Chimaira’s singer, is pacing around unable to stay still, and is so nervous he actually vomits before even taking the stage. Cut to 12pm. The band are done. Explosive versions of old & new Chimaira classics have been delivered, and the band are hot, sweaty, and exhilarated. Rob, Chimaira’s guitarist, appears in the guest area with a big ass grin. “Oh. My. God.” he exclaims. “That was the best show I’ve ever had.”
This weekend at the Download Festival, the folks over at Kerrang! hosted a special signing tent. Running throughout both days (albeit with a gap during the mighty Metallica), each band was scheduled a 30-40 slot in which they could meet the fans, and sign stuff. As luck would have it, Stone Sour were the last band in the signing tent yesterday, and so many people had queued up to meet them, that the band decided to stay on longer, and signed stuff for fans for nearly 2 hours… including some very wet fans who braved the torrential downpour in the queue waiting. We’ll have some photos of the signing session, and the band’s live set here on this site soon. In other Stone Sour news, as announced by Corey on stage yesterday, a new single ‘Inhale’ will be released on July 7th. The tracklisting will be as follows: 1. Inhale 2. Inside The Cynic* 3. Inhale (Rough Mix)* 4. Inhale (Video)* * previously unreleased If you can’t wait til then to check out the new video for Inhale, you can catch it on Sky channel Scuzz, or right here in our VIDEO section.
