It can only be a brand new interview with Type O Negative… and this one with Johnny, carried out by the good folks at East Coast Romper. Check it out in full HERE.
So, that surprise Metallica set at Download the other weekend was cool, no? Did you read our earlier news story about our guys in CHIMAIRA getting to meet and hang out with them? Now we have the photographic evidence… check it out HERE. m/ Speaking of photos from Download, check out all the pics we’ve posted up for MURDERDOLLS, STONE SOUR, and SPINESHANK’s live sets too.. as well as a few shots of you lovely folks in the crowd, the Kerrang! signing sessions, and some general backstage hanging around. Oh yes, and once you’ve finished admiring Chimaira with Lars, be sure to check out all of the CHIMAIRA photos too.
Last Thursday, June 6, the Murderdolls did a special performance of their forthcoming single ‘White Wedding’ in front of a TV audience. The reason? The performance was being filmed for a future broadcast on TV show Top Of The Pops. Also performing on the night were Marilyn Manson, Evanescence, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Emma Bunton, Mel C, and Abs. Spotted! During the Murderdolls performance, we spotted Emma Bunton’s band, headbanging and miming along from an adjacent stage! Who’d thought. You can check out some photos from the night HERE.
The last time we visited Red Tape, it was a little over a month ago and they were one week deep into the recording of their Roadrunner debut…so where do things stand now? Singer/Guitarist Jeff Jaworsky enlightens us as follows: What up everybody! Jeff from Red Tape here… We’re still down here in Burbank finishing up on the recording. So far, everything is turning out pretty dope! Then again, what would I say… it sucks? ) One thing that DOES suck is the 1 bed motel we’re all staying in now… I wish we were still back at the Oakwood Apts with Brody & ‘ol dude from QOTSA! -Ummm, I’m not gonna bitch about the 1 bed motel anymore after reading OPETH’s studio diary… they slept on air mattresses in the studio -way to go guys! We spend most of our time over at MT Studios, this guy Matt’s house basically. At this point, we’re completely finished with drums and guitars. All that’s left is a few vocal and bass tracks, and “baaaaaaam!” we’z done. Back to playing shows and such… What can you expect from this record? The same heavy, fast, and soulful punk rock fulla groove and hooks that has always been RED TAPE, but waaay tighter and more bass for your face! We’ve got 17 tracks, 2 of which will prolly end up as B-sides. Also, as of now we’re still tossing around names for the record… when it’s decided, we’ll let ya know. This has been an amazing experience… the best part for me was the Coffin Case bro stopping by with the hook-up! …well, maybe not the BEST -but it was rad. No slowing down yet… Can’t wait to share it with you all… g2g -jeff
Relive last weekend… feast your eyes on our photos of Chimaira live at the Download Festival in Donington, in the CHIMAIRA PHOTO GALLERY. Enjoy.
“Download…so where do I start. I guess we will go to the night before, we were 12 hours away and had to play a gig at 10:30. Doesn’t seem like a problem right? Well we had to be at Download at 10am…not good, so we played the gig in Holland, jumped in the bus and drove about 100mph to get there…we made it by the skin of our teeth. We all wake up, play the show, rocked it for about 8-10,000 people and it was the best crowd we have ever played for…no bullshit. The rest of the weekend was spent hanging out with our friends in Mudvayne, Stone Sour, etc…and of course Spineshank. Speaking of them they tore it up the next day, it was so amazing to watch them. After their set we were lucky enough to catch Metallica’s set, wow that was fucking nuts. The rest of the night was spent drinking booze and yes to top it off, we got to hang out with Metallica…yes Metallica…all in all the best weekend of our lives. We are upset we had to cancel the rest of the tour due to Spineshank, but we understand and our hearts are with them. We will be back soon, and I promise it will be before the end of the year… till then cheers!” Mark, Chimaira
Johnny Kelly and Kenny Hickey of Type O Negative have just started a side project with Rob Traynor from Dust To Dust. So far this trio don’t have a name, but they are working on songs for a demo.
Coal Chamber have confirmed the tracklisting for the forthcoming new album called ‘Giving The Devil His Due’. Coal Chamber’s new album, isn’t new at all. In fact, some of the 20 tracks that make up this album were recorded over 5 years ago… and that is what makes this album so special. Not a traditional “B-sides” album, Giving The Devil His Due is instead a collection of songs that traces the sonic growth and breadth of that band of gothic metalmongers that we affectionately call Coal Chamber. Full of remixes (many of them far superior to the originals), demos (dating back from BEFORE the band was even signed), soundtrack recordings AND ONE ALL NEW SONG, “Headstones and the Walking Dead,” this album is a must-have for anyone who has every moshed to the thunderous clamor of “Loco,” gone into overdrive for “Big Truck,” or well, swayed, to the rocking groove of “Sway.” 20 tracks, more than 70 minutes of music and liner notes from the guy that signed them – Giving The Devil His Due gives fans of Coal Chamber everything they were due and more. 1. Headstones And The Walking Dead 2. Big Truck (Hand-On-Wheel Mix) 3. Pig (Original Version) 4. Bradley (Going Postal Mix) 5. Sway (Hypno-Submissive Mix) 6. Not Living (Original Version) 7. Blisters 8. El Cu Cuy (Man-To-Monster Mix) 9. Wishes 10. Apparition 11. Anxiety 12. Save Yourself 13. One Step (Chop Shop Mix) 14. Big Truck (Live) Demos (1994 – 1995): 15. I (3:36) 16. Oddity (4:03) 17. Sway (3:29) 18. Unspoiled (3:36) 19. Loco (3:37) 20. Babbit (2:56)
