Buy A Puppy! Die! BANG!

Posted on February 12, 2008

“The Murderdolls are perfect. In the same way that The Undertones or Tatu or The Cheekygirls or Take That or The Petshopboys or The Sex Pistols or Junior Senior or Nirvana or Mud or Kylie are perfect. For there is nothing that could be added or subtracted that would in any way improve the basic idea of a gang of 4 ft tall Marilyn Manson Mini-Me horrorgoths banging out 4/4 balls-to-the-slaughterhouse-wall glam-metal with lyrics about necrophilia, death, disease and suicide. And why bands that dress like tramps and bang on about being depressed should be taken out and made to dig their own graves and then shot in the back of the neck. Get over it! Take some Prozac! Buy a puppy! Die! BANG!” Written by Steven Wells, you can read the complete Playlouder’s Murderdolls interview with Joey HERE.

Cradle Of Filth & Killswitch Engage

Posted on February 12, 2008

We present an exerpt from Dani Filth’s (Cradle Of Filth) tour diary from the US Ozzfest… Why? Read on… “Marysville, Ca. – Wednesday 9th July. Very hot day and I’m starting to get a bit of a tan (yuk!). Ozzy cancelled but I wasn’t told why. The show went on successfully anyway with Korn headlining. We just got to play a little later. I got up real early to catch Killswitch’s 9.30am set and played a naughty trick on Adam D. by swapping his water for Newcastle Brown ale while he wasn’t watching. He just drank it down and used the bottle as a guitar slide! Damn he’s more rock than most on this tour! We had a very solid show and even got “Ebonyí¢ä‰åŒ_” in the set for good measure. The keys tried to die ‘cos of the sun but we pulled it off. Another good Ozzfest day.” Thanks to Sin Metal.

The DevilDriver Update

Posted on February 12, 2008

What’s the latest from the world of DevilDriver? Dez Fafara checks in with the following update: “Now that the DevilDriver album is complete, we will be receiving mixes from numerous individuals to determine who will be mixing the album. We are excited to hear these mixes, and cannot wait for everything to move forward. We are also very pleased and proud to announce that a good friend of mine – the world renown tattoo artist, the infamous and dark, Paul Booth – will be doing the artwork for the album, and is also working on band logos as well. “Again, the album title is Straight To Hell. I have been asked many times if there is a theme to this album, and yes, there is a theme – If anybody is familiar with the story of FAUST, the album would be somewhere along the lines of that. Everyone sells their soul for something, we have sold our soul for our art. There will be 12 songs on the album, and we are looking for an October release…however, that hasn’t yet been finalized. “We are looking forward to bringing you something different, unique, something not heard before. This art has many influences, and we’d like to paint a very vivid picture in your mind. Influences such as black metal, death metal, and hardcore thrash, as well as strict heavy metal groove have all been put together into the picture. If you want to check out a little something, we have a song called “Swinging The Dead” on the upcoming Freddy Vs Jason soundtrack, you can go to www.roadrunnerrecords.com/FreddyVsJason to check it out. “Also, please check out our new message board – www.devildriver.com/forum. Please feel free to post any questions you might have…I will be answering a bunch on Monday morning. “Until then, I hope everybody has a great week and weekend. As for me, I’m on the way down to my local record store to buy the new Superjoint Ritual album…I’m looking forward to sitting on my couch and listening to the whole thing in its entirety.” “As always, hail the night…” -Dez Fafara

Over And Out

Posted on February 12, 2008

For the past few weeks, Chimaira has been on tour with In Flames, Soilwork, and Unearth. For this upcoming week, Chimaira will find themselves headlining a handful of dates en route to joining up with the US Ozzfest tour on July 31 in Noblesville, Indiana. So how has the summer tour schedule been treating the band so far? Chimaira frontman Mark Hunter gives the following update: “Where do I begin? Let’s just say that this has been the best tour we have done to date. Ya, I know I say that all the time, but fuck it. In Flames treated us like gold, we had a blast with Soilwork, and Unearth rocked the house. We had a good time on this tour because there were only 2 days off, and every show was crazy PACKED! We hope to meet up with In Flames and Soilwork and Unearth real soon. For our friends in the USA, we will see you all summer on Ozzfest, and our friends in the UK, look out, we are coming back fuckers! Cheers Mark over and out”
