Word From The Murderdolls HQ

Posted on February 12, 2008

Murderdolls HQ 10th September 2003 Greetings Ghouls and Germs! Starting Sept 23rd, I’m going to be doing a series of DJ dates and guitar clinics in the UK. The club nights are put together by the folks at Kerrang! magazine, the Guitar clinics by Hughes and Kettner. At the Club Kerrang! nights expect special guests, giveaways and tons of debauchery. If there is any less decadence than there was at the Kerrang! Awards aftershow party I will be thoroughly disappointed with the Kerrang! readers and our Ghoulscouts!! Kerrang! is giving you a night to go fucking nuts so take advantage of it. I certainly will! ‘Do Your Own Damn Clinic, Clinic’ is brought to you by the ghouls at Hughes and Kettner. Here is the deal: Normally a guitar clinic is some amazing shredder guy doing scales you can’t even pronounce, let alone play. I’m here to show you that it doesn’t have to be that difficult. How? Well, you’re going to do the clinic with me, thats how! I’ll go over a few of the things that I have learnt, the gear I use and how to play ‘White Wedding’. Then I’m going to invite anyone up to play ‘White Wedding’ with me. í¢ä‰åñDont worry, they can’t fuck it up any more than we do,í¢ä‰åŒ laughed Joey when I told him about the idea. We also plan on giving a ton of stuff away at the clinics too. We have always been a very DIY band and always interacted with our fans on a personal level, so yeah, you get a chance to play a Murderdolls song with a Murderdoll! You don’t know how much I’m looking forward to seeing all the Ghoulscouts from all the various UK troops. If these things go well we may add some more in November, in and outside of the UK. Oh yeah…and on behalf of the whole band, a massive í¢ä‰åñThanks!í¢ä‰åŒ to everyone who voted for us in the Kerrang! Awards. You rule!! Questioning Kroeger Pt 2

Posted on February 12, 2008

Following on from yesterday’s ‘Questioning Kroeger Pt 1’ news story, we now present Part 2. Insider info on Nickelback, from Mike Kroeger. Once again, questions sent in by our teamers. 4. What are your favourite places to visit? Apart from home of course! “The UK is really cool, and so is Japan.” 5. Is it hard being away from your families and how do you cope with being away for so long? “I try to bring the wife and kids out as much as I can.” 6. How long did it take to write and produce The Long Road? “The writing process is always going, but the recording took about four months in total.” Tune in tomorrow for insider info from Ryan ‘Nik’ Vikedal. Meanwhile, back to the Stalking Facts. Nickelback Stalking Fact #3: Last night, had you been in Belgos, near Covent Garden, London, you would have seen Nickelback, their crew, and most of the UK RR staff, dining in the rather bomb-shelter-like ‘The Vault’ area of the restaurant. And the accompanying 6′ “stick” of schnapps shots. Nickelback Stalking Fact #4: Yesterday daytime, the band paid visits to Capital FM (Leicester Square, London), plus Hit 40 UK – one of the UK’s biggest chart shows… as well as the Q2 Studios, to record messages for various radio stations. Nickelback Stalking Fact #5: Today is a day off for Nickelback, and so most of the band and their crew are roaming almost-loose in London. Where exactly? We have no idea. We say almost-loose, for Nickelback’s head of security Hawk will be roaming also, and he has more eyes in the back of his head than band members & crew put together. Nickelback Stalking Fact #6: Get up early tomorrow, get your cornflakes and turn your TV on to ITV. Nickelback will be appearing on GMTV at approximately 7:45am. There’s a little surprise for the band as well, which we haven’t told them about!

Questioning Kroeger Pt 1

Posted on February 12, 2008

What can ya learn in ten minutes with Mike Kroeger of Nickelback? Our teamers put some random questions together… Part 1 is as follows (pay attention, you never know when these facts might come up in a competition): 1. What music influenced you while you were growing up? Any specific bands or singers? “I like Slayer a lot, but also Metallica.” 2. What do you do on the tour bus to pass the time? “Practise the bass and learn gemology, as well as reading conspiracy theory books.” 3. What is the maddest thing a fan has done to get close to you all? “A guy swallowed a goldfish once just to get into a show…” Tune in tomorrow for Part 2. New single ‘Someday’ is released on Monday 15th September on enhanced CD only for 퉌£1.99 from HMV, Virgin, Woolworths, MVC, Asda, Sanity, WH Smiths & all good Indie Stores. Nickelback Stalking Fact #1: Last night, a bar was hired in near Oxford Circus, London, and selected radio & TV folks descended from across the UK for a little pre-release listening party of the new album ‘The Long Road’ and a few drinks with the guys until even the moon was going to bed. Nickelback Stalking Fact #2: Earlier today, the band could have been found at studios in Maida Vale, London, recording special performances of Someday, How You Remind Me, and Hero plus an interview for AOL Sessions. Coming online for broadband AOL members 26 Sept… all AOL members Oct 6. Magic!! Yes, you can now request Nickelback on Magic TV by calling 09012 930 000. ‘Someday’ #206 ‘How You Remind Me’ #205

Boys In The Crew

Posted on February 12, 2008

The boys in the crew have been waiting for you… This past Wednesday night (Sep 3) on the 4th floor of Montana Studios in NYC, Ill Nino played their final full-on rehearsalí¢ä‰åŒ_final rehearsal before hitting the road (co-headline US tour with Spineshank started Sep 5). On this Wednesday night, Ill Nino played their full set in the rehearsal space, they ran through 13 songs in front of the crew and the 4 Roadrunner nerds watching (and that is meant in the nicest possible way). You can see pics from this rehearsal in the band’s PHOTO GALLERY (33 new pics from the rehearsal in total). And now, speaking of the Ill Nino crewí¢ä‰åŒ_ If you are still reading this update, you are real Ill Nino faní¢ä‰åŒ_you know their names, where they live, their boxers/briefs situation, etcí¢ä‰åŒ_ But what do you know about the extended Ill Nino family? The Ill Nino crew whilst on the road. These are the guys that make sure every show goes off without a hitch so that you all don’t flip your shit and riot ala G’N’R in Montreal circa 1992. So as a public service at the very least, here’s a quick rundown of the guys behind the scenes: BIG BENí¢ä‰åŒ_Big Ben is the sound man. Other acts he has worked with on the road in the past include At the Drive-In, Sparta, and Pro-Pain. If seeing the name Pro-Pain doesn’t ring a bell, go back and study your Ill Nino history. Drummer Dave Chavarri was previously a member of Pro-Pain. It’s a small world, after all. RATí¢ä‰åŒ_Rat happens to be the guitar techí¢ä‰åŒ_but apparently is quite familiar with tech-ing on the drum side as well. Previous acts Rat has been on the road with (and he has pictures to prove) include Ugly Kid Joe, Def Leppard, DIO, Poison, Keel, Janes Addiction, Filter, Britny Fox, and Soulfly. Rat’s quote: í¢ä‰åñI smile as much as Max (Cavalera, Soulfly) does.í¢ä‰åŒ LITTLE MARCOí¢ä‰åŒ_Marco is the Ill Nino drum tech. Dollars to donuts, if you study Chavarri during a show, at some point you will see Marco’s head pop up behind Chavarri, behind the drums. Marco is one of two Ill Nino crewmembers that has been around since Day One. CHAKAí¢ä‰åŒ_Chaka – the other Ill Nino crewmember to have been around since the beginning – pretty much does everything í¢ä‰åäóì backline, lightingí¢ä‰åŒ_a jack of all trades. BENJIEí¢ä‰åŒ_And last, but certainly not least, we have Benjie. He is the band’s official tour manager, a.k.a. babysitter, a.k.a. nanny, a.k.a. H.N.I.C. This is Benjie’s first time on the road with Ill Nino, despite the fact that he has known Chavarri and bassist Laz since high school. Benjie originally met Chavarri at the legendary NYC club Coney Island High (one of New York’s three biggest clubs during the birth of punk in the 70’s). The show? Neither remember. í¢ä‰åñDrew Careyí¢ä‰åŒ is apparently what the band calls himí¢ä‰åŒ_if ya know what we mean í¢ä‰åŒ_but you probably don’t. There you have ití¢ä‰åŒ_Ill Nino’s extended family whilst on the road. Hey, if the impossible becomes possible and something goes wrong during a show, you know who to direct the lit torches and pitchforks at. Ill Nino, new album Confession in stores Sept 29th.

The A List

Posted on February 12, 2008

Nickelback’s ‘Someday’ has just been added to not only the Radio 1 ‘A’ playlist, but also the ‘A’ list for MTV. Now coming to a radio station and TV screen near you even more often. So what’s on the schedule for Nickelback today? Following a sushi dinner and late night beverages with RR staff last night, another jam-packed day of press and promotion for the forthcoming album ‘The Long Road’. Interviews with Guitarist, The Press Association, Classic Rock, & Word magazines plus Sky TV’s Flaunt, Channel 5, Fuji TV, BBC Newsround, Meridian TV, a few websites, and a couple of telephone interviews (“phoners”) to Denmark, Finland, and Norway. And that’s just in 6 hours today…
