TRIVIUM’S Travis Smith has spoken to HMV’s GETCLOSER.COM about their upcoming release SHOGUN, filling them in on all the gossip about the new album. Head to GETCLOSER.COM to check it out!!

SLIPKNOT’S new album ALL HOPE IS GONE has just gone past the 100,000 sales mark in the UK, meaning a Gold disc to adorn the walls of the bands rehersal space!!

MADINA LAKE HIT THE STUDIO

MADINA LAKE have started work on their follow-up to 2007’s debut FROM THEM, THROUGH US, TO YOU.

After several months of writing in thier base of Chicago, the guys have made their way over to New Jersey this very week to begin work with producer David Bendeth (Paramore, Killswitch Engage, Hawthorn Heights, Red Jumsuit Apparatus).

The band have given the album the working title of ‘Attics To Eden’ on their OFFICIAL MYSPACE. Watch this space for ongoing news about the album, and in the meantime, be sure too check out the pics from their ATTICUS show in June, which have been loaded into the bands GALLERY.

NEW TRIVIUM ALBUM ‘PROVES THEIR TALENT AND JUSTIFIES THEIR AMBITION’ SAYS KERRANG!

In the current edition of KERRANG MAGAZINE you will find a KILLER 4K review of TRIVIUM’S new offering SHOGUN which will hit stores on MONDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER.

Florida’s prodigious metal machine make crowd-pleasing fourth album.

It’s momentarily startling to discover that Trivium frontman Matt Heafy is still only 22 years old. To have achieved this much at so young an age, with most of his creative years potentially still ahead, suggests that he and Trivium are a band that are still going to be both lauded and controversial a metal generation from now.

Saying that, it is rather important that Trivium don’t fuck up now. Fan opinion was split by the band’s desire to simplify the complex, rampaging twin-guitar lead storm that brought them to fame with 2005’s Ascendancy. The following year’s The Crusade saw Heafy move away from chesty roars toward a cleaner singing style, while a thrashier old school-favouring rawness roughed up the music. Some thought it a betrayal of the band’s ‘new wave of metal’ standing, but yet more loved it.

This time, perhaps sensing the division, Trivium have conjured a masterstroke that might just build a bridge. Shogun manages to be most of what Acsendancy was, shaken up by the elemental forces that made The Crusade such a success. It may sound like a compromise, but it’s hard to describe anything so heavy, so complex and so ruthlessly hook-laden as compromised in any sense. Instead Trivium serve up a grand statement opener called Kirisute Gomen that charges and pummels, finds Heafy singing from somewhere near his boots, and when you least expect it, explodes into melody.

There’s echoes of Metallica’s Damage Inc on shred monster Insurrection, but On Torn Between Scylla And Charybdis, Heafy flicks from one style to another over staccato guitars and a bulleting rhythm section, while both Into The Mouth Of Hell We March and Throes Of Perdition draw truly inspiring hooks from the stormy depths. Down From The Sky has echoes of Bullet For My Valentine’s bleak chorus making, but look hard and there’s flashes of death and, once, even black metal buried here in Shogun’s technicality. These are songs structures that few bands would contemplate – music demanding a diversity of talent. And metallic it certainly is.

The 12-minute title track may be a bridge too far for most attention spans, and certainly He Who Spawned The Furies is too lightweight to throw punches here. Never mind. In the course of a meaty, action-filled 66 minutes, Trivium have delivered a credible claim for longevity, one that proves their talent and justifies their ambition. More importantly, they may have finally found their true sound.

MULTI-PLATINUM ROCKERS STAIND TO HEADLINE UK IN JANUARY

After three consecutive weeks atop Billboard’s Modern Rock Chart with smash hit single, “Believe”, and a massively successful UK tour with NICKELBACK, multi-platinum rock quartet STAIND have confirmed UK headline shows in January 2009. Joining them will be SEETHER, currently supporting the band in the USA.

STAIND is touring in support of new album THE ILLUSION OF PROGRESS, which debuted on Billboard’s Top 200 at No. 3, making it the fourth consecutive album of STAIND’s career to debut in the top 3. THE ILLUSION OF PROGRESS is STAIND’s sixth album and the follow-up to 2005’s certified platinum Chapter V. The album was produced by Johnny K and recorded in frontman Aaron Lewis’ home studio with guitarist Mike Mushok , drummer Jon Wysocki, and bassist Johnny April.

LAMB OF GOD DEFEND THE FAITH WITH DIMMU BORGIR

World class Virginia noise makers LAMB OF GOD are thrilled to announce they will be co-headlining the second Metal Hammer Defenders Of The Faith tour with DIMMU BORGIR. Set to hit 5 UK towns in February 2009, the shows will be opened each night by FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, with special guests TBC shortly. Lamb Of God will close each night.

All dates are all ages, though under 14’s must be accompanied by an adult.

LAMB OF GOD are currently in the studio recording the follow-up to their widely acclaimed Sacrament record. The band are utilizing two studio webcams to post footage from the drum room and the mixing desk on their official website www.lamb-of-god.com. The as-yet-untitled album is planned for February 2009. Their revealing double-DVD Walk With Me In Hell, featuring over five hours of footage, is out now. LAMB OF GOD will tour the USA in December as special guests of METALLICA. Kirk Hammett (guitar, Metallica) told Kerrang! recently, “I fucking love Lamb Of God! I’ve been a fan of theirs for a few years now…it’ll be great to see them play some of these songs live.”
