In a brand-new interview with the US publication Richmond Times-Dispatch, guitarist Joel Stroetzel was asked to name what it is that might set the band apart from what other groups are doing. “I’m not really sure, to tell you the truth,” he responded. “There are a lot of bands going on now who have a similar sound, and a lot of people are noticing a lot of those bands. I think we’re one of many bands kind of up-and-coming. “I know everybody in the band has very different listening tastes. Adam listens to a lot of pop music. I like a lot of thrash metal and stuff like that. There’s a lot of different elements in the KILLSWITCH arrangements that you can kind of pick out if you’re looking for them.” According to Stroetzel, the fans are ultimately what keep the guitarist excited about what he does for a living. “Being in a touring band is obviously one of the best jobs in the world, in my opinion, but it can still kind of drive you crazy after a while when you don’t get to go home,” Stroetzel said. “So I think one of the things that really keeps me going is when you get in front of a crowd of people and you see people singing along and really getting into the music, playing air guitar along with your parts. It really makes you feel good. It makes you feel like people are listening to what you’re doing.”
Dave Pybus has posted a message on the official Cradle Of Filth site, with a little more information about the ‘Nymphetamine’ video shoot, and also an update on the band’s touring plans. You can also see the first 6 photos from the video shoot, exclusively on the COF site, with a whole lot more to come to this site shortly. Check out the message & photos HERE.
What do Soulfly and Ill Nino have in common? Well, the two bands are currently on tour together, yes, but both bands are also working on DVDs. True. Ill Nino’s DVD, currently slated for a October 25 release and titled ‘Live From The Eye Of The Storm’, will feature a live show from the band’s tour travels earlier this year. The show that was taped for this, was done in the great state of Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh, PA? Perhaps. Scranton, PA? Maybe. We’ll leave you hangin’ on that bit of info for the time being. The DVD will also house all the band’s videos, and feature an interview with the whole band…in fact, said interview was just shot this past weekend in a hotel suite in Las Vegas. True. Soulfly’s DVD will likely not surface until early next year, and looks to be titled ‘The Song Remains Insane’. The live footage on this release will prove to be quite worldly, featuring lots of European festival footage, maybe even footage from the band’s South Africa travels. More details to come as the goods for this piece are gathered.
To all of you expecting A-level or equivalent exam results today… we hope you get what you were aiming for. But, it is not the end of the world if you don’t.. you can always retake, and while there are plenty of people in the music industry with degrees, there are also plenty without who would argue that experience is just as valuable. Good luck!
