Who Is… Illdisposed

Posted on February 12, 2008

Name? Thomas Jensen Age? 27 Instrument? Drums All time favourite record? Slayer: Season In The Abyss. Greatest experience on tour? I smoked some bad shit and passed out. The other guys had to carry me from the venue to the nightliner (tourbus). Most horrible experience on tour? The nightliner broke down on the way home from the tour. We had to sit on the highway waiting for 12 hours. Most embarrassing moment that ever happened to you on stage? We ate some bad food and I crapped my pants during the show. Shit was running down my legs. Do you have any sort of ritual before going on stage? No With which band would you love to tour with and why? Slayer, because they are the best. If I wasn’t a musician, I would work as a… Blacksmith, my profession. I am master of the welding flames. [web ed: welding flames? Does it get any more metal?!?] Best advice you ever heard? Always crash your cymbals before the end of the warranty period. With which famous person (alive or dead) would you love to spend some time and why? Your mum. Because she’s sweet. Last Words: See you on the road.

Slipknot will play their first concert in South Korea this coming November. This highly anticipated gig will finally take place after the cancellation of original date in early February. Fans in South Korea previously had to travel to Japan to see the group perform in concert, and this first gig in Seoul, South Korea is expected to be a monster rock event. “Women and the physically weak are being advised to take the upper seat sections, allowing the standing section to be filled with men and foreigners living in South Korea,” according to a posting on the Korean fan site SlipknotMania.com. Tickets go on sale on September 20.

Hell F*ckin’ Yeah

Posted on February 12, 2008

A quick update direct from Trivium’s world, written a couple days ago on Aug 30th… “Matt here in Denver! Tonight can be summed up in two words: ‘Fucking amazing!! ‘We played at the Gothic Theater – and man lemme tell you… it was mind blowing. People were non-stop with fists, moshing, singing along, and screaming their heads off. It looks like we have found another hometown added to the list. So to you all in Denver : ‘Hell fucking yeah…’ I think there’s only like 6 more shows left – and with that… I’ll see you all soon!” Since our last update the Road Rage tour has taken us to Texas, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico & Arizona. We will end this tour with 4 shows in California (last show @ The House of Blues in Anaheim , September 5th). The support from the fans has been great, we’ve played mostly new material on this tour & the response has been insane pits, moshing and good times all around – thanks to all those who gave us a chance and enjoyed our sets and those we got to meet so far during this tour, it has been a great experience. In two weeks we will begin recording our debut Roadrunner Records CD. We will be heading to the legendary MorrisSound Recording Studios to lay down Travis’s drum tracks and then we are off to work once again with Jason Suecof at AudioHammer Studios to record and mix everything else. We are working out the details for final mastering and it may involve a trip to the UK. We are very excited about getting into the studio and look forward to getting these sessions started. We have been getting a number of emails for guitar tabs, well, we don’t have all of our music í¢ä‰åñtabbedí¢ä‰åŒ out í¢ä‰åäóì we do have some songs í¢ä‰åñtabbedí¢ä‰åŒ and while they may not be totally complete with solos and all we will see what we can do about posting them in the near future. We will get something up as soon as we can after the tour. Thanks m/ Travis, Paolo, Corey & Matt

Urban BBQ

Posted on February 12, 2008

How quickly time flies. Before you know it, Autumn will be upon us and this summer will be all but memories…and the US installment of the Road Rage Tour – that’s Machine Head, Chimaira, and Trivium – will be over. Luckily, some of you’ll have mementos (and memories from the shows) to take with you. Speaking of which, Did You Know? Did you know that the bands on the tour have been grilling on the BBQ most every day on the Road Rage Tour? True. In fact, they all chipped in and bought Chef Duce (yes, Adam Duce, bassist of Machine Head) a well deserved apron. You can check out pics of Chef Duce from one of the latest Urban BBQs HERE. Too fuckin’ good…

Some Places

Posted on February 12, 2008

Currently Thornley is wrapping up a few dates in Canada. Last night (Sept 2) was at the Foundation Nite Club in East Barrie, ONT (approx 3 hours away from where the band calls home) and tomorrow night is a show in Montreal (also 3 hours away from home, but in the opposite direction). Since returning to Canada after their most recent US tour travels, the band has had the pleasure of playing Ottawa for the second time over the course of the past nine months…and for some reason, they swear by it. Seems that is the one venue where the sound is always great onstage and out front…where the band is always healthy…where all band members are on the top of their game. “These shows are usually few and far between,” tells bassist Worm. “There is almost always one of the four band members who has something going on – tech issues, head not in the game, bad phone call earlier, something. For some reason Ottawa seems to have taken these distractions and boxed them up allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the show.” Amen. God bless the nation’s capital. Other Thornley briefs: – Sekou is in the September US issue of DRUM! magazine (Elvin Jones is on the cover) – Worm is experimenting with a 12 string bass. – Tavis got new kicks – the Fiddler’s Green on Cambridge, Ontario (where the band played Sept 1) is haunted by a ghost named Emily. Apparently, true. – It looks like Thornley will be returning to the states shortly. It is likely the band will be touring stateside with Breaking Benjamin starting later this month. For more details on the times of Thornley, check out the band’s website at www.thornleyband.com.
