Flynn’s Diary

Posted on February 12, 2008

An update from Robert Flynn’s diary from the band’s official site. “We are officially finished with the Roadrunner Records Road Rage Tour. Super stoked to have toured, hung out, drank with the Chimaira boys once again. I love those guys, and I love that band. í¢ä‰åñThe Impossibility of Reasoní¢ä‰åŒ is one of the best modern metal records to come out in the past 5 years, and they are a un-fucking-believable live band. Wow! Those guys have really come into their own. It is awesome to see how much they have improved since we first took those guys out back in 2001. Monday Night Mosh!!!!! Openers / teenagers Trivium rocked the house big time, and went over really well. Seriously good dudes too. The Brown Eyes flowed heavily. In Chicago… oh my God. In Anaheim…oh í¢ä‰åäóì Jesus – God?! Roadrunner really stepped up to the plate and did a great job delivering the goods. There were ads up the ass! Nearly all the shows kicked butt. Had a couple o’ duds… DC was boring, Detroit was good. Toronto rocked, NYC… f#%kin’ A! San Antonio, & Columbus… Holy Cow!!! Orlando… What the f#%k!!! Philly… F#%K YEAH! HOLY SHIT!? People singing along to í¢ä‰åñSeasons Witherí¢ä‰åŒ and í¢ä‰åñDays Turn Blue To Grayí¢ä‰åŒ SO loud!!! It’s crazy. Good stuff. Best circle pit of the tour hands down goes to Orlando…unreal man…you guys got issues… ************************************************* Heard a new The Haunted track called í¢ä‰åñ99 livesí¢ä‰åŒ …oh… my… god!!!??? Peter Dolving’s vocals sound absolutely amazing. It warms my soul to hear a man that angry. That guy is seriously pissed off. Also got a chance to hear the Megadeth í¢ä‰åñPeace Sellsí¢ä‰åŒ remasters… and you know, I honestly forgot how great this record was. It is a masterpiece. God Forbid’s í¢ä‰åñGone Foreverí¢ä‰åŒ is still in heavy rotation in the dressing room, it’s definitely got some staying power, and we are REALLY fired up to have them on board for Europe. If you missed them on the NWOAHM tour, be sure to catch em’ with us this time, you won’t be disappointed. Dew Scented’s í¢ä‰åñInwardí¢ä‰åŒ and í¢ä‰åñImpactí¢ä‰åŒ are both getting heavy rotation, as is the mighty, MIGHTY Viking Skull who have nearly attained worship status. ************************************************* Watching my 11 week old son learn how to laugh…man…it is the cutest god darn thing I’ve seen in my entire life. Jesus!? Did I mention it’s summertime?! Wakeboarding, camping, the lake, the sun, already did it once, and can’t wait to do it again. Group camping sites right on the water, with all your friends, bar-b-queing, drinking an ice cold Peet’s Wicked Ruby Brown Ale or two, or three, or four… no phone, no TV, no internet… ah… heaven! ************************************************* Burn My Eyes turned 10. Wow?! In all honesty I never thought we’d last this long. We are so grateful, fortunate, and so lucky to have the best, most passionate, rabid, and insanely loyal fans in the entire world. You inspire us. You’ve kept us going in times of doubt, and keep us going even now. You are the reason the world will miss us when we’re gone. What more can I say? Fuckin’. Wow?! Love, man. Fuckin’. Love. And yes, in case you were wondering, we recorded every second of the BME 10th anniversary performance in Philly with a 6-camera, 24-track digital filming-and-recording rig courtesy of the guys at High Roller productions, and it will be released in some form or another. Hell yeah!! ************************************************* As for the immediate future, we will be shooting a video for “Days Turn Blue To Gray” starting Tues. Sept 21st, and it’s looking like we might be filming a “live” DVD from our Brixton Academy show in London. What we would like to see happen is for this DVD to be released in the beginning of the year, with the main DVD being the London show with the first pressing of the DVD containing a “limited edition bonus DVDí¢ä‰åŒ of our ‘Burn My Eyes’ 10th Anniversary show, as basically a thank you for our hardcore fans, and long time supporters. After that first pressing has sold out, the bonus BME show will go away, and the full London DVD will be available. So if you sleep on it, your loss. ************************************************* Australians, we have heard your pleas and they will be answered. We’re finally heading down to… headline Down Under for the first time in 9 years… FUCK YEAH!! AND we will be collecting our first Gold Record ever! Cheers Australia for giving us our first Gold record fuckers! We’re really, really looking forward to hanging with you VB drinkin’ lunatics. We will NOT be going to Japan this year. So instead we will bypass Japan entirely, and go directly to Europe / UK and on Oct 8th, commence the biggest, most extensive tour in the history of this band. HELL yeah!!! We cannot wait! Plus, Paris with Slipknot and Slayer! Ruling! Until then, we look forward to seeing all of you ‘Supercharger’ tattoo havin’, beer drinkin’, vodka stinkin’, circle pit wreckin’, hell raisin’, “Machine Fuckin’ Head” chantin’, life lovin’ lunatics out on tour!!! Hell YEAH!!!” -Flynn

The Ball Is Announced

Posted on February 12, 2008

Next week, the Ball is back, in the form of the release of MTV2’s Headbangers Ball, Vol 2 compilation (Sept 27 release). And starting in the US again from Nov 4 in Sayreville, NJ, it will be back AGAIN…this time in the form of its 3rd national tour of the USA. A US Press release on the upcoming tour as follows: MTV2 HEADBANGERS BALL SPAWNS ITS THIRD TOUR CRADLE OF FILTH, ARCH ENEMY, BLEEDING THROUGH and HIMSA HIT THE ROAD IN NOVEMBER 2004 New York, NY: Following the overwhelming fan response for first two sold-out Headbangers Ball Tours, MTV2 is proud to announce the lineup of the third HEADBANGERS BALL tour. CRADLE OF FILTH will headline the run, with ARCH ENEMY and BLEEDING THROUGH as special guests, and HIMSA kicking off the evening. The tour kicks off on 11/4 in Sayreville, NJ and follows the 9/28 release of the ultimate 2-CD metal compilation HEADBANGERS BALL VOL. 2 on Roadrunner Records. Hosted by Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed, MTV2’s HEADBANGERS BALL can be seen every Saturday night at 10pm ET/ 7pm PT. On Saturday, November 6th, MTV2 will air a special tour edition of Headbangers Ball featuring appearances by all the bands on this fall’s trek. Smarter, more ambitious and more fiendishly creative than any of their Norse contemporaries, tour headliners CRADLE OF FILTH emerged in 1991 from the shadows with a fully-formed and multi-faceted sound a cunning amalgam of venomous black metal, high gothic drama and pure British steel. The subsequent decade brought untold success and a further consolidation of the band’s inestimable sonic prowess. CRADLE OF FILTH have recently delivered the album of their career – NYMPHETAMINE (due out 9/28). Dubbed by British press as the greatest Black Metal band ever and Britain’s greatest overall Metal export since Iron Maiden and embraced stateside with a slew of upcoming magazine features and covers that will run throughout the next few months, the shadow that Dani Filth & Co. cast over the landscape of all things heavy will only grow longer and darker. Swedish extreme metal titans and tour special guests, ARCH ENEMY, have been called “One of the top 25 most important bands in metal,” by Alternative Press and “Sweden’s death metal messiahs,” by Guitar World. The group’s critically acclaimed album, Anthems of Rebellion, was hailed as a melodic death metal masterpiece and helped them land high profile U.S. tours with the legendary Iron Maiden and Slayer. ARCH ENEMY just shot a new video for the track “Dead Eyes See No Future” and are more than ready to make their triumphant return to the U.S. this fall. Incorporating Euro style metallic riffage, speedy hardcore foundations, ethereal keyboards and throat-ripping to melodic vocals, special guests BLEEDING THROUGH have drawn fans across the musical spectrum. The group was named as one of eight bands ushering in the “Future of Metal” by Revolver Magazine, the “Next Big Thing” by Spin Magazine (Feb) and “Band You Need To Know” Alternative Press (Jan). This U.S. tour will be the latest sweep in a non-stop year of playing, including Ozzfest, since the release of their acclaimed album “This Is Love,This Is Murderous” for Trustkill Records. Assembling the finer qualities of bands like Slayer, Iron Maiden, and In Flames, while adding a shot of hardcore undertones, punk rock culture and gothic rock aesthetics, HIMSA’s music is as violent and dark as their name suggests. The complexity and aggression of their latest offering, Courting Tragedy And Disaster, could not be more perfectly suited for today’s rock world – a sentiment echoed by Metal Hammer and Revolver placing the band on both their “Bands To Watch” lists. Previous installments of MTV2’s Headbangers Ball Tour have been a huge success among metal fans, with sold out dates around the country. Bands that have participated in tour include HATEBREED, DAMAGEPLAN, DROWNING POOL, UNEARTH, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, LAMB OF GOD, SHADOWS FALL and GOD FORBID. The MTV2 Headbangers Ball Volume 2 album will feature 40 tracks on 2 CDs, all for the cost of just one. The first disc will feature established acts, while the second will feature up-and-coming, promising bands. Intent on presenting the width and breadth of the burgeoning metal and hardcore scene, Roadrunner and MTV2 compiled a track listing that serves as the ultimate document of hard rock circa 2004, showcasing credible, respected acts like Slipknot, HIM, Killswitch Engage, Lamb of God, Atreyu and Unearth among others. Also included are unreleased tracks from Probot, Trivium and Lamb of God, while Megadeth, Shadows Fall, Kittie, Dillinger Escape Plan, Cradle of Filth and 3 Inches Of Blood contribute tracks from their upcoming albums. For a limited time, the CD will feature 3D cover art and a link to exclusive Bloodrayne 2 video game content. This follows the successful release of “MTV2 Headbangers Ball” (Volume 1) in 2003.
