Something for the weekend… it is time to check out the brand new video from Hopesfall, shot for the track ‘Icarus’ from the new album ‘A Types’, out now. Watch it HERE.
Thornley wrapped up their last tour travels – a tour run of the US with Breaking Benjamin – on October 21st in Albuquerque, NM. And now, one month after the fact, the band is back at it. First up, yesterday the band is shooting a new video up in the Great White North. The track, “Beautiful.” Surely we’ll have words on how the day went soon. And then…starting this weekend, the band is hitting the road once again. This time, in Canada. The tour run kicks off Saturday (20/11) in Ottawa, ONT.
Did you know? Earlier this week at a show in Providence, RI, USA, former Killswitch Engage singer Jesse Leach joined his former band on stage during the track “Take This Oath.” Pics from the show, including photos of Jesse on stage, can be found in Killswitch Engage’s PHOTO GALLERY. Check ’em out. Special thanks to Jeremy Saffer for the pictures.
Name? Marco Schaller Age? 27 Instrument? Bass All time favourite record? At The Gates í¢äåäóì Slaughter Of The Soul Greatest experience on tour? I have great experiences every day when our fans mosh to our music! Most horrible experience on tour? Didn’t have any so far. Most embarrassing moment on stage? As my Bass amp gave up the ghost. Do you have any sort of ritual before going on stage? No! Go out and rock… With which band would you love to tour with? Oh, absolutely no idea. If I couldn’t be a musician, I would work as… A nurse for handicapped people. Best advice you ever heard? That I should carry out my thing (music). With which famous person (alive or dead) would you love to spend some time and why? George Lucas. There’s no reason. Star Wars should be enough.
“It may be the heaviest record we put out all year,” tells The Agony Scene’s A&R Rep Mike Gitter in regards to what is about to be put to tape and released early 2005… About one hour ago (sometime during the afternoon of Tuesday, 16/11), The Agony Scene piled into a van to start driving from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Millbrook, NY, where they will start the recording of their Roadrunner debut. In fact, come Thursday, they will already be tracking drums. The recording of this release, titled The Darkest Red, will take about six weeks. The band will be recording about 12-13 tracks, including a couple of Misfits covers. Updates from the studio to come…

Back in the USA: Trivium’s Matt Heafy and Travis Smith, fresh from the UK where they were mixing their Roadrunner debut – Ascendancy – with Andy Sneap. Now back, the band is ready to hit the road down South, as they have four dates lined up with Fear Factory starting tomorrow night (17/11) in South Carolina. And speaking of hitting the road, it is now official that bassist/vocalist Paolo Gregoletto (formerly of south Florida’s Metal Militia) is indeed a permanent addition to the Trivium family, and will be with the band on this upcoming string of dates. Paolo had toured with the band during the Road Rage tour this summer, and recorded with the band on Ascendancy. Official words from the band on this addition are as follows: “Paolo not only brings his musical talents and skills to Trivium, he brings a determined, can-do attitude and a positive energy that fits extremely well with who we are, what we are about and what we like to do. Paolo had this to say about becoming a member of Trivium, “I was recording material for my project with Jason (Audio Hammer Studios) back in June and Matt, Travis and Cory dropped by to listen in and hang out. A few days later we all got together to jam and from the first song we played together I knew there was a musical chemistry between us. “I was asked to fill in on bass and back up vocals for the Road Rage Tour in August and it was an incredible experience. I am extremely excited to be joining Trivium – we had a great time recording ‘ASCENDANCY’ together and I can’t wait till we hit the road again.” Matt says – “Paolo G… where do I start? Well for starters he obviously can play bass like a bad-ass, so what separates him from the numerous other bassists in the scene? Aside from rocking out pentatonic blues shred runs on ‘A Gunshot to the Head Trepidation’ (one of our new songs that will be on our new album ‘ASCENDANCY’) to tearing into lightning speed thrash riffs on ‘Declaration’ (another new tune)…Paolo can: play guitar, sing (which he is doing live all the time with us now) and scream a quite menacing scream (also featured live). I think we’re finally complete.” Corey adds “Paolo definitely has what we have been looking for – great player, singer and just a really cool dude… now our lineup is complete and better then ever.” Travis sums it up this way: “Paolo brings a lot to the band – he is a very good addition and a bad ass bass player.” That being said, Paolo, welcome aboard. Till the next Trivium update, stay metal… Trivium Ascendancy coming Feb 28.
DevilDriver, take II. DevilDriver is scheduled to hit the studio this week to begin the recording of their second release, title TBD. The magic will take place at Sonic Ranch Studios in Texas. Colin Richardson will be producing the effort, and later mixing it here in England when the time comes. Album should surface sometime in the first half of 2005.
A note from Most Precious Blood… “Just landed back on New York soil from New Zealand. What a tour. Our friend west side Dave @ Dynamo hooked it up. We hung at black sand beaches, climbed a mountain barefoot and fed penguins backstage at Kelly Tarltons thanks to our friend Ivan! Some of us even rode the reverse bungy in the middle of Auckland. We’ll have video on our site real soon. Oh yeah, we also snuck in a few SHOWS! Haha. And our shows broke some attendance records I think for US hardcore in New Zealand, we were psyched. The kids down in NZ were totally awesome to us and made us feel like family. We ended the tour playing a 2 car garage known as “X The Shed X” in Mount Maunganui. It was as packed as a 2 car garage could get. Totally illegal, cops swarming trying to shut it down, kids running through the street with fireworks, we sold merch out of the back of station wagon and got out of there as quick as we could to avoid arrest. It was a great way to end the tour. We had a total blast. Before NZ we did 2 week or so across Australia and that was mind blowing. Thanks to Graham & Pete & Robb and Resist Records for making the tour so awesome. Awesome big thanks to our boys in shotpointblank for doing the shows with us. Melbourne’s finest. Australia was through the roof as we say in MPB. The shows were insane. I think Melbourne was up there with the best, but Byron Bay ruled as well – as did the first show in Brisbaine – and now thinking of it, just about all the shows in Australia blew our expectations out of the pacific. Adelaide, Sydney, we even flew to Perth and had 2 awesome shows in the literally the middle of nowhere, Australia. It was an awesome tour. Now we’ve got a week off or so to try to catch up on sleep from jetlag and then we leave on another US tour. No rest for the wicked….” Justin
