Posted on February 12, 2008

ROADRUNNER UNITED – THE ALL-STAR SESSIONS, 57 ARTISTS, 45 BANDS, 19 TRACKS, 4 TEAM CAPTAINS. 1 GROUNDBREAKING ALBUM Roadrunner Records has put together a groundbreaking record to mark the label’s 25th Anniversary. The group is called Roadrunner United and the album titled The All-Star Sessions. This full length release, in stores on 10th October, 2005, is a ‘master-class’ in hard rock/metal. Boasting 57 artists from 45 of Roadrunner’s past and present bands, the album will contain original tracks that are collaborations between numerous Roadrunner stars. Four central musicians were originally chosen to produce and write the songs. Joey Jordison (Slipknot), Dino Cazares (ex-Fear Factory/Brujeria), Robert Flynn (Machine Head) and Matthew Heafy (Trivium). These four musicians play on the songs they have written and have also assembled a unique team of artists to appear on each track. In order to cover as wide a spectrum as possible, no musician has played for more than one writer/producer and each song features a different vocalist. In addition to these stellar teams of musicians, there will also be special additional tracks from ex-Roadrunner artist, Josh Silver – Type O Negative’s longtime producer / keyboardist. In the spirit of the project, Silver has included Roadrunner artists on his tracks as well. Opeth’s Mikael Akerfeldt appears on the Silver-written “Roads.” Track names from the Jordison team include: “Constitution Down” (with vocals by Kyle Thomas of Floodgate) “Tired ‘N Lonely” (with vocals from Keith Caputo of Life of Agony) “Annihilation By The Hand Of God” (with vocals from Glen Benton of Deicide) among others. Flynn’s camp has completed songs like: “The Dagger” (with vocals from Howard Jones of Killswitch Engage) “The Rich Man” (with vocals from Corey Taylor of Slipknot) among others. Team Cazares tracks include: “The End” (with vocals from Matt Heafy of Trivium) “The Enemy” (with vocals from Mark Hunter of Chimaira) And tracks from Heafy’s sessions include: “The Dawn of a Golden Age” (with vocals from Dani Filth of Cradle of Filth) “Superheroes” (with vocals from Michale Graves of The Misfits) “Blood and Flames” (with vocals from Jesse Leach – ex-Killswitch Engage singer). ALL THE RIGHT REASONS

Posted on February 12, 2008

New York, NY: Multi-platinum rockers, Nickelback have announced that í¢ä‰åñPhotographí¢ä‰åŒ will be the premiere single off their fourth Roadrunner album, All The Right Reasons. A fitting first single for an amazingly hooky and textured album, í¢ä‰åñPhotographí¢ä‰åŒ finds the the band’s seemingly innate ability to craft infectious rock tracks in full display, while also marking a natural progression for the band. You can listen to thhe track now by CLICKING HERE. A video for the single was recently shot by longtime Nickelback-video director Nigel Dick (Guns n’ Roses, Britney Spears, Ozzy Osbourne), in the band’s hometown of Hanna, Alberta in Canada. Inspired by vignettes from lead singer/guitarist Chad Kroeger’s life – initiated by a photo he took one New Year’s Eve with the band’s longitme friend/engineer Joey Moi – í¢ä‰åñPhotographí¢ä‰åŒ is the universal story of the memories that flood back after looking at personal photos. From teenage mischief to young love, all the way down to regrets or promises that may not have been kept, the single deals with common human experiences and its video shows off the personal history of members Chad and Mike Kroeger and Ryan Peake. The small town in the Canadian Badlands in which they grew up gave them a warm welcome. “It was a wonderful trip down memory lane,” says Kroeger. “It was great to see the people and places that we haven’t seen since we left there 10 years ago.” Written and produced by the band, All The Right Reasons sets a modified tone for Nickelback’s future by showing off a great range of musical styles and incorporating new musical elements into the mix, like piano and strings (on “Savin Me”). Taking us back to Nickelback’s trademark raucous rock are “Fight For All The Wrong Reasons” and “Animals.” Tracks like “Side of a Bullet” and “Follow You Home” feature a tribute to slain Pantera guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott and the work of ZZ-Top maestro, Billy Gibbons, respectively. The continued growth of Nickelback is a success story built on the road, on the radio and by – above all things – great rock songs. The band’s 2003 Platinum release, The Long Road bore several rock, modern rock, and pop radio smashes including í¢ä‰åñSomeday,í¢ä‰åŒ í¢ä‰åñFigured You Out,í¢ä‰åŒ í¢ä‰åñFeelin’ Way Too Damn Goodí¢ä‰åŒ. The album earned the band 3 Grammy nominations, 6 Radio Music Award nominations, and 1 American Music Award nomination. Nickelback’s previous album Silver Side Up was an instant smash upon release in 2001, spawning three No. 1 hit singles including í¢ä‰åñHow You Remind Me,í¢ä‰åŒ í¢ä‰åñToo Badí¢ä‰åŒ and í¢ä‰åñNever Again.í¢ä‰åŒ The album achieved multi-Platinum status in the U.K. (3x Platinum), racked up four Grammy Award nominations, four Billboard Awards, four Canadian Juno awards. Its first single, “How You Remind Me,” was the #1 Most Played Song of 2002, across all formats, according to Billboard Monitor.

High pitched wailers 3 Inches Of Blood have a new drummer. And in the incestuous nature of all our bands they’ve picked a label mate. So here he is the former Walls Of Jericho drummer Alexi Rodriguez. The band’s previous stool sitter, Matt Wood, has quit for musical and personal reasons.

NOTHING REMAINS

Posted on February 12, 2008

According to a posting at Blabbermouth, Chimaira’s new video was stolen. Fans are so rabid for new Chimaira material that one of them “stole” the video to ‘Nothing Remains’, the lead track from the band’s third and self titled album. The video was stolen from the director’s web site after the fan illegally hacked in. Still in its initial editing phase, the video had yet to be seen by the band or executives at Roadrunner Records. Commented singer Mark Hunter: “It’s exciting to see that our fans are itching to get a hold of our new material, and to see that they actually enjoyed the video. However, the video was in its infant stage and while we are extremely proud of where it stands now, we know that it will be much better when it is finished. I can’t wait for our fans to see the finished version and as soon as it’s done I’ll put it up on the web myself.”

AN AMAZING DRUM FILL

Posted on February 12, 2008

Opeth have strongly denied that drummer Martin Lopez has been fired. While he has left the band as they continue on the US Sounds Of The Underground tour, this is to return to Sweden for treatment on what’s being described as a blood disorder. His place is temporarily being taken by Strapping Young Lad’s Gene Hoglan.
